X-Men ‘97is nearing the conclusion of its first season with the latest episode setting up the endgame for the mutants and their conflict with Bastion. However, the eighth episode of the series created by Beau DeMayo also delivers on a promise that reinstates Wolverine’s status as one of the most important members of the titular team.

Responding to a fan question on X, DeMayostatedthat he could answer the question without spoiling the final three episodes of the first season.

The eighth episode of the series has finally revealed why DeMayo gave such a cryptic response to the fans disgruntled by Wolverine getting sidelined in the series. In the episode, the X-Mansion is attacked by an army of Prime Sentinels and is burned to the ground with Rogue stuck inside.

However, Wolverine shows up to save her in what is arguably the best action moment for the character so far in the series. After the episode was released, DeMayo took to X to finally put to rest the concerns of fans worried about Wolverine not getting a moment to shine in the first season. He tweeted:
