Sega announcedYakuza 5’s Remaster will be launching in Japan on June 20 with a new trailer. Sega had previously announced an HD remaster of the game was coming to PS4 but no date was revealed until now.
Yakuza 5first released on PS3 in 2012 in Japan and in 2015 in the west.Yakuza 5is known for having the highest amount of content among the games in the series, with five protagonists, set in different cities across Japan, with the main story linking them and each one of them having their own specific “Another Drama” story.
With the release ofYakuza 5 Remasteron PS4,allYakuzagames will be available on PS4 in Japan, and hopefully, it’ll be the case in the west soon as well.
These remasters are slowly releasing in the west as well. BothYakuza Kiwami1 and 2 are available on PS4 in the west andYakuzagames are also slowlycoming to PCas well.Yakuza 5should be available in the west on PS4 soon, and on Steam at some further point in the future as Sega already teased they’llrelease more games on PC.
Another game by Yakuza Studio,Judgment, is coming west as well. Currently, the game’s sales have beentemporarily halted in Japanbecause one of the actors appearing in the game, Pierre Taki, was arrested for the possession of cocaine. Yakuza Studio’s Daisuke Satocommented on the case,Square Enix also removed the actor fromKingdom Hearts 3. Sega hasn’t announced yet how this will affectJudgment’s release in the west, but you shouldn’t worry as they definitely won’t cancel it, seeing all the work they’ve put into it,the game having multiple translations. At worst, it’ll only get delayed from its currentlyscheduled June 25 release. The most likely scenario is Sega making a new version ofJudgmentwhich replaces Pierre Taki, like what happened withMasayoshi Tanimura inYakuza 4.you may send your opinion to Sega aboutYakuzagameswith their ongoing survey.
