10 Best Soulslike DLCs, Ranked

Many Soulslike games get DLC, but which ones are worth your time?

Depending on what weapons you have been trying out, some amazing skills will help you progress quickly through the game. These grant you new attacks, enhance your health, and allow you tostack up Skyborn Mightmore quickly, so you can use your skills and spells at a faster rate.

Wuchang Fallen Feathers Best Starting Skills Aerial Bulwark

So, which of these skills should you invest in at the start of the game? Let’s break that down.

In Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, you are given a handful of skills to start with. These are the starting skills for each weapon and are considered for the list as you choose them by the weapon type you decide to wield.

Wuchang Fallen Feathers Best Starting Skills Shudder Crush

10Aerial Bulwark

Flip and Counter

Skill Tree

Description

Grip your spear in a defensive stance, then leap into the air with a twirl of your spear. When used as the enemy strikes, you can evade attacks and launch a counter.

Aerial Bulwark is the starting skill for the spear weapon type, and it is one of the few skills that allows you to guard and counter. When you use this ability, you jump away from the opponent as soon as they hit the shaft of the weapon. you may then launch a counterattack.

Wuchang Fallen Feathers Best Starting Skills Sword Saint

This ability is especially useful against early-game enemies and can carry you into the mid-game when you need to fight enemies that require parrying and counterattacks to defeat.

Of course, the downfall is the jump. If you are caught after landing, this can easily lead to your demise.

Poorly Reviewed Soulslikes

I’ve used this ability fairly often and noticed that it is weaker against groups, but it excels in one-on-one fights against tougher enemies, such as those clad in armor or bosses.

9Shudder & Crush

Axes Go Fast

You can consume 1 stack of Skyborn Might to quickly strike with charged heavy axe attacks.

You might have used axes in the game and realized that they are much slower than the other weapons. Of course, this slow speed means that they hit like a truck when you connect with an enemy.

If you want to make axes a little bit better and swing faster, taking the Shudder & Crush skill is a must. This allows you to consume a stack of Skyborn Might to attack quickly with the heavy attack of your axe.

This is great for when you are dealing with small groups, as the heavy attack spins you around in a large arc, hitting everyone around you. It also lets you get an attack within a shorter period.

8Sword Saint

More Skyborn Might

The second attack of a longsword light attack combo grants 1 stack of Skyborn Might if it hits an enemy.

Getting Skyborn Might is very useful in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, as it allows you to use your abilities more effectively and cast spells. Sword Saint is a great ability for getting additional Skyborn Might.

This skill makes it so that the second attack of your light attacks with the longsword grants a stack of Skyborn Might, allowing you to chain skills into your attacks with higher potency.

10 Poorly Reviewed Soulslikes That Are Actually Pretty Good

Don’t let the critics fool you, these are stellar Soulslikes.

Sword Saint aved my life during one of the tougher boss fights, as it gave me more Skyborn Might to work with, and therefore, I could use more spells.

The downside of this ability is that you must hit with the second attack of the combo. This can be tricky with evasive enemies. Luckily, the first hit can miss and the second will still get you that stack of Skyborn Might.

7Feather Chaser

Dual Blades

Dual Blades attacks can clash. Performing a successful clash grants 1 stack of Skyborn Might. Clash weapons with your enemy, deflecting most of the incoming damage.

Dual blades are a weapon type I needed to get used to, as they don’t attack as fluently as I am used to in Soulslike games. With that being said, they do have the advantage of getting the Feather Chaser ability very early, which allows the weapons to clash.

When the dual blades clash with an enemy’s weapon, it blocks most of the incoming damage, leaving you rather unscathed, and preventing you from receiving the worst of the attack. This means you typically won’t go flying, but you will receive some chip damage.

Feather Chaser also allows you to essentially cut through the enemy’s attack, still dealing damage in the process, which is useful when facing tougher enemies.

6Flickering Blade

Flick O' The Wrist

One-Handed Sword

Brandish your sword with lightning speed to weaken the enemy’s attack. Grants partial immunity to damage but does not block all incoming attacks.

One of my personal favorite skills is Flickering Blade, and it is the default disciplinary skill for the one-handed sword weapon type. It allows you to rapidly flick your weapon back and forth with lightning speed to block enemy attacks.

Similar to Aerial Bulwark, this skill is great for dealing with single enemies. Still, I have noticed it can also block multiple hits if the enemies are attacking from the same direction, making it slightly better. It also shines in one-on-one fights and againstbosses like the Master Raider.

The downside of this ability is that it doesn’t grant you damage immunity in the way other counters do, and the transition from the skill to attacking can be a bit slow. On a positive note, the skill does act as an attack and can take down an enemy’s health bar, but it won’t always be quick.

5Blade Dance

Twirl and Kick

Revolve and launch a flurry of strikes with both blades.

The dual blades are one of the fastest weapons in the game, and the Blade Dance ability takes full advantage of that. This skill allows you to shoot into a fast barrage of spinning attacks that can rip through an enemy’s health.

Blade Dance is great for the early game when dealing with weaker enemies that get stunned easily. It is also good for larger enemies whenever you have a big enough opening, because if you’re hit when trying to unleash the attack, you may be knocked out of it.

Luckily, the attack animation is so swift that you will most likely have enough time to hit and get out of the way of an incoming attack.

4Spinning Kick

Flying Feet

Leap forward and kick the enemy with great force.

Spinning Kick is a very fast attack for those who use one-handed swords. You leap forward, kick your opponent, and land. Simple, but devastating.

Through the upgrade menu, you can add a second kick to this attack, dealing more damage to both poise and health. If you have the Madness debuff, you can increase the potency of the kick and land at a safe distance.

8 Soulslikes That Make Dark Souls Look Basic

Dialed-up Dark Souls

Increasing the potency of this attack with Skyborn Might is more likely to leave an enemy open for an Obliterate attack. The main downside of this ability is that you needa lot of Madnessto make it function correctly, but it can help you quickly get Obliterate strikes in.

3Biding Time

Wait and Strike

Gain 1 stack of Skyborn Might every so often while wielding a one-handed sword.

There are some slow moments in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers that you may take advantage of. It’s those moments between fights when you are searching the area for items or a missed opportunity, and it’s also where Biding Time shines the most by giving you more Skyborn Might.

While the description is a bit mysterious, that’s exactly the skill’s effect. With Biding TIme, you get periodic Skyborn Might given to you. This can be during combat, while you are searching an area, or while you are waiting at a Shrine.

Stacking up Skyborn Might to use for skills and spells while searching an area allows you to spam spells when you run into enemies, making the early game a breeze.

2Earthshatter

Shake The Earth

Pound your axe into the ground to create a powerful shockwave. Use with Skyborn Might to bolster Resilience, making your attacks more difficult to interrupt.

In a move similar to one I haveseen in Dark Souls 3, Earthshatter allows you to pound the ground with your axe, generating a shockwave and hitting multiple enemies if they are nearby. You also gain resilience if the attack is used with Skyborn Might.

Resilience makes your attack much more difficult to interrupt, allowing you to break through enemy defenses effortlessly. Of course, you might still get hurt in the process, so keep that in mind.

On top of this, Earthshatter is great for breaking enemy guards, making them more susceptible to Obliterate attacks. I used this on a few larger foes and was surprised by how quickly I could perform an Obliterate, much to my enemies' frustration.

1Sword Counter

Counter God

Raise your blade to block the enemy’s attack. Block at the perfect moment to deflect the attack instead.

I was not a believer in the Sword Counter ability at first, but after using it, I dare say it is the best early-game skill you can get. This ability allows you to parry enemy attacks, receiving no damage, and striking back at your foe with two powerful strikes.

I slept on this ability for a long time and started using it during the Commander boss fight with great success.

After that, I went back and started using it on weaker foes in the early game, and I am sad that I didn’t use it earlier. I bet it would have been good forthe Feathered Priest boss fight.

The guard is great and allows for a nice kickback when used with Skyborn Might. On top of this, the two follow-up attacks often decimate weaker enemies or deal a good chunk of damage to tougher foes.
