This article discusses the possible renewal of a third season of the Prime Video series Reacher.

There was an almost universal sigh of relief among Lee Child disciples when Prime Video announced a streaming series adaptation of theReachercharacter. However, apprehension set in when Alan Ritchson was chosen to portray the ultra-popular machismo character.
While Tom Cruise was undeniably the world’s biggest movie star when he portrayed Jack Reacher in the film series, his casting diverged significantly from the character described in the books. The decision to cast a relatively lesser-known comedic actor for such a cherished role raised concerns among many fans, myself included.

Nevertheless, after witnessing Ritchson’s performance in the pilot, doubts vanished. Such was the confidence in his portrayal that a second season was commissioned shortly after the first. M.N. Miller, our film and television critic, hailed the second season ofReacheras “enthralling, exciting, and relentlessly entertaining,” declaring Alan Ritchson as “the bestReacherever.”

Will that change in the future?
The popular book series has surpassed100,000,000copies sold. According to the website The Bookseller, this puts Child’s creation ahead of theHarry Potterseries. A Lee Child novel is read every 20 seconds in the world today. That said, picking a popular source material is critical to viewer retention, especially when moving into three or more seasons.
Per Straw Poll, the most popularReacherbooks areOne Shot, Killing Floor, The Affair, Echo Burning, and Bad Luck and Trouble. The two have already been used for the Prime Video series andOne Shotfor one of the Tom Cruise films, That Leaves of The Affair and Echo Burning.
Considering Ritschon is no longer getting younger, the latter deals with the former MP’s wandering origins, which may be a good fit. However, the entry above does have a powerful female character, which is in high demand for movie or series adaptations.
The second season of Reacher is now streaming on Prime Video.
