After the initial announcement in February 2023, the highly-anticipatedElden RingDLCShadow of the Erdtreefinally got a release date last month with a gameplay trailer and is set to release on July 02, 2025. The upcoming expansion will take players to a new location called the Land of Shadow.
The upcoming expansion has got players hyped to take on the new big bad Messmer and visit the new areas. The expansion is sure to be released on the current-gen PlayStation, but players with the PlayStation 4 are curious if they will be able to play the expansion on their last-gen consoles.
Is Elden Ring DLC Coming to PlayStation 4?
Bandai Namco Entertainmenthas confirmed thatElden Ring‘sShadow of the Erdtreeexpansion is coming to PS4 along with current-generation and last-generation consoles, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC platforms. However, the expansion will skip the Nintendo Switch, as the base game is also not available on the Switch.

The developers have made the expansion accessible to a wider audience, and hence it will be released for all platforms except Nintendo Switch. The main reason that got players worried about the expansion releasing on PlayStation 4 was that the DLC is still not available to pre-order on the platform. However, players can expect this to be fixed as the release date approaches.
It is important to note that players will need to have the base game to play the expansion. The expansion can currently be pre-ordered via the platform’s store or from the official Bandai Namco website.

There are several different versions of the game and expansion with unique content and bonuses that players can check out before they decide to pre-order.
Elden Ring Has Got New Editions for the Expansion Release
The game is coming in four brand-new editions:Standard Edition,Premium Edition,Deluxe Edition, andCollectors Edition. TheStandard Editioncomes with expansion only, and players need to have a base game to play the game. ThePremium Editionincludes the expansion, a digital artbook of the game with lore and visuals, and the original soundtrack.
TheDeluxe Editionincludes the critically acclaimed base game, the upcoming expansion, the digital artbook, and the original soundtrack for both the base game and expansion. TheCollectors Editionis the best offering and comes with a 46-cm statue of Messmer the Impaler, a 40-page hardcover art book, and a download voucher for the original soundtrack of the expansion.
Moreover, theCollectors Editionwill also include three art cards, a woven patch, three in-game emblem stickers, and a poster featuring a popular character from the game. All these editions will include a bonus gesture called“Ring of Miquella”when pre-ordered and will be released with the expansion’s launch. But players can also progress in the expansion and unlock the gesture later.
