In an interview withVariety, Australian starCate Blanchettrevealed she was also harassed byHarvey Weinsteinat one point in her career. “I got a bad feeling from him,” she stated. The actress claimed that he would often tell her that they were not friends, and when probed about the meaning of this, she said it was because “I wouldn’t do what he was asking me to do.”
Blanchett did not elaborate on this, and it was the first time she ever spoke about the issue. She believed that he set an example of a certain type of man, and she wished that there was some sort of a legal precedent that would have him and other men like him face prosecution. Many actors have already expressed regret working with the veteran filmmaker, but Blanchett remained in the safe lane. “I feel that these things need to go into court,” she remarked before stating that social media should not be the judge or jury in this matter.
Blanchett was criticized by the public, including Allen’s daughter Dylan Farrow, who claimed to have been abused by the man. Farrow called out other celebrities supporting Allen, such as Alec Baldwin, Emma Stone,Scarlett Johansson, and Diane Keaton, in anopen letter.

In the same conversation withVariety, Blanchett still did not address if she wanted to work with Allen again, stating that she had a great time collaborating with the director in the past and the only solution to the problem was to bring it to the court.
