Who is Collei inGenshin Impact? Gender, Powers and Abilities
Collei is a female character from theGenshin Impactmanga. Before HoYoverseannouncedthe game version ofGenshin Impacton June 06, 2025, a manga was already published since 2018. The manga’s story takes place before the Traveler arrives in Mondstadt, so it also serves as a prequel to theGenshin Impactgame.
Collei first appears in chapter 2 of the Genshin Impactmanga. She is a young girl who was abandoned by her parents then experimented on by the Fatui, injecting Archon Residue into her. This is an ailment and a danger for her health, but it also allowed her to use certain powers such as summoning black fire that manifests into a serpent consuming anything. She had trouble controlling the flames, and they also seemed unstable when near a Vision holder.

Why Collei is a protagonist
Moreover, Collei is, in a sense, the protagonist of theGenshinmanga as the story mainly revolves around her. It would make sense for her to appear in the game at some point. Especially because she’s supposed to be in Sumeru after the manga’s events,and it’s the next region to be added in the game.She was brought there byCyno, who was officially already confirmed to be a future playable character.
Theories and Leaks on Collei Becoming Playable inGenshin Impact, Weapon and Vision
Talented data miner Dimbreath noted that there was data regarding Collei in the files forGenshin ImpactVersion 2.5’s Beta Test.
[2.5 - Beta] Collei:They left an entry about one of Collei Elemental Burst gadgets. There’s not much more information about this that I have digged of so far.
This doesn’t necessarily mean Collei will be playable anytime soon though. Some characters took over a year to become playable after they were first data mined.
Furthermore, every playableGenshin Impactcharacter either has a Vision or has special circumstances that let them use Elemental Power, like being an Archon. Collei in the manga doesn’t have a Vision. and she’s not an Archon either. However, the manga takes place several months before the arrival of the Traveler in Mondstadt/the start of the game’s story. It’s entirely possible Collei received a Vision since then. If not, she could use something special that would allow her to fight and become a playable character. Certain leaks from Chinese forum NGA also claimed Collei will have a Dendro Vision and use Bow type of weapons.
