The Ring of Oath chest is situated to thenorth of where Rennala is seated in the library. However, you cannot unlock this chest unless you acquire theDiscarded Palace Keywhich requires battling the Baleful Shadow inNokstella, the Eternal City.
How To Find Baleful Shadow
Progress through Ranni’s questuntil you get past the seal at Ranni’s Rise, located northwest ofCaria Manor. Upon reaching the topmost level of the tower, you will encounter a portal that transports you to a different section of theAinsel River.

After acquiring the Ring of Oath, your next step is to journey back to the Ainsel River. Fast travel to the Lake of Rot, and thenproceed southward to the Grand Cloister site of grace. It’s important to exercise caution around the Lake of Rot, as stepping into it causes rot buildup. To mitigate this risk,consider consuming Preserving Boluses or casting theFlame, Cleanse Me incantation.
Upon arriving at the Grand Cloister site of grace, platform your way down and continue southwarduntil you come across a coffin positioned at the edge of the rotfall (waterfall).Interacting with this coffin will transport you to a secluded area where you must confrontAstel, Naturalborn of the Void.
Equipped with the Dark Moon Ring, you can now proceed through the tunnel located on the north side of the boss chamber, use the elevator to reach theMoonlight Altar, and advance further in Ranni’s quest.
