Saoirse Ronan’s Honest Confession AboutChronicles of Narnia
Saoirse Ronanjust hit us with a reality check aboutGreta Gerwig’sChronicles of Narniaplans, and it’s not the news we were hoping for. During a chat withJimmy Kimmel,Ronan casually dropped that she hasn’t been asked to join the upcoming film adaptations. Yeah, we’re as surprised as you are. Ronan asserted,
I mean there’s not there isn’t like no truth to it I she hasn’t asked me yet. She’s writing it…We have the kind of relationship where I just sort of go to her and I say, So I’ll be in this, just so you know. And she takes some time to think about it and then she goes, Okay. But she honestly hasn’t asked me about Narnia. I think she’s so kind of wrapped up in writing it right now.

This is big because Ronan and Gerwig are practically an iconic duo afterLady BirdandLittle Women. Ronan usually has a go-to strategy where she tells Gerwig she will be in it and boom, it happens. But not this time—at least, not yet.
What’s even crazier’s that Ronan almost made it intoBarbietoo. She revealed she was supposed to be a weird Barbie alongsideKate McKinnonbut had to back out because of her other movie,The Outrun. “I’m still devastated that I didn’t get to be in it,” she admitted.

Could 2025 Be Saoirse Ronan’s Year for That Elusive Oscar?
Saoirse Ronan’s basically an Oscars veteran at this point—four nominations, zero wins. She scored her first nod at just 13 forAtonement, then kept the streak going withBrooklyn,Lady Bird, andLittle Women. But now, at 30, she’scoming in hot for the 2025 Academy Awards, with a shot attwoawards—lead and supporting actress—forThe OutrunandBlitz.
InThe Outrun, she plays a woman battling alcoholism who heads back to Orkney to rediscover herself. It’s also her first time producing, and she definitely felt the grind behind the scenes. She asserted

There is a lot going on behind the scenes that actors are protected from, and sometimes I think it would be valuable for an actor to know the drama that exists when they’re not around. I think it might make people behave a little bit better and to know that it is sort of like a domino effect when there’s one thing that’s out of place, it really will affect everything else by you not getting on to a call at a certain time.
She added:
It’s very difficult to get an independent movie made and to try and source the money needed to just even pay people is difficult sometimes. So, yes, it’s just having an awareness of and the graft involved and that has definitely made me appreciate the movies that I’m on so much more where I am just an actor and I don’t have to worry about any of that stuff at all.
WithBlitzalso in the mix, could this finally be the year Ronan takes home the gold? We’re definitely betting on it.
