Warhammer 40K: Rogue Traderlets players fully customize their characters, building and playing them however they want. Melee weapons are very prominent in the 40K universe, with them being just as prominent and powerful in Rogue Trader.

Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader - Where To Recruit Every Companion

There are a total of ten companions players can recruit in Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader; here’s how to recruit each of them.

Full melee builds are not only viable but also very powerful with the right build. Players can even wield a melee weapon in each hand, dual-wielding and getting the attacks for both weapons each turn.

The Necessities

While every build has some wiggle room for players to make the build their own, a powerful dual-wielding build has a few necessary foundations to build the rest of the character off of. Themost important talent in a dual-wielding build is the Dual-Weapon Combat talent, whichallows for a second attack from the off-hand weapon for one more AP than usual.

Without this talent, only one attack can be made in a usual turn.To make the best dual-wielding character, choose the Warrior archetype, asthis archetype will take full advantage of a melee-oriented build, get additional benefits, and deal more damage with melee weapons.

Loadout & Focus

Players will then need to decide which weapon type their character will use. I personallywent with Chainswords due to their popularity and the higher damage versionsfound later on. After picking which melee weapon type will be used, find two of them andequip one in each hand for one weapon loadout.By picking one weapon type, that weapon type talent can be purchased to benefit both weapons, such as Chain Weapon Expert giving both weapons +4 damage.

Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader - How To Play Multiplayer

Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader lets players explore the galaxy co-op with their friends, with anywhere between 2 to 6 players at a time.

Characteristics & Origin

When creating the character, it is important tofocus purely on Weapon Skill and Strength for the characteristics. This will make sure attacks hit the enemies and deal more damage with each hit, respectively. Ahigh Weapon Skill helps that character parry incoming melee attacks, which will likely happen as your character will almost always be in melee combat.

While every origin has its uses in melee combat, theNavy Officercomes with the very useful melee feature Brace For Impact.Thisdual-wielding character will focus heavily on dealing damage, both in terms of build and playstyle, so this additional feature will helpgive them a defensive option when faced with a strong opponent.

Dual-Wielding Playstyle

With the dual-wielding talent and two weapons in hand, the character is ready for battle. Thefirst attack of each turn will cost the usual amount of AP, while the second attack with the off-hand will cost one more AP than usual. This makes it best toalmost always use the Strike ability with the off-hand,as Cleave would end up taking 3 AP.

After an attack or two, utilize the fourth AP on something defensive like Brace For Impact or Endure,as this character will often be the center of the enemy’s attention. This character willalso excel when targeted by anOfficer’s ability or Heroic Act to make them act again,as they will make the most attacks per turn compared to other builds.
