Last night marked the commencement of the road to WrestleMania, as WWE’s pay-per-view event for February,Royal Rumble, took place in Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis. With only four matches booked for the show, two being the Royal Rumble matches for men and women, it was stacked as it set things in place for WM41.

The event kicked off strong with the Women’s Rumble match, where Iyo Sky and Liv Morgan made the fans cheer for them. However, the show soon became a topic of conversation on social media as it featured several mishaps.
This year’s Royal Rumble was arguably one of the most unpredictable ones; it featured some controversy, where fans were visibly upset with the winners of both men’s and women’s Royal Rumble. However, things could have gone south as they narrowly avoided several disasters.

5) Liv Morgan saving Lyra Valkria from a wardrobe malfunction
The Women’s Rumble Match was kicked off by Iyo Sky and Liv Morgan, who were soon joined by the Women’s Intercontinental Champion, Lyra Valkyria. Soon after, entering the ring, she made her presence known by taking on Sky.
However, things were not in her favor, as the strap of her ring gear came undone, and her top almost came off. The #2 entrant saw the Intercontinental champion in her predicament and waited for the right time to land a hit on her viaX. Thus, giving her ample time to retreat in a corner and get things fixed.

Gladly, she quickly got back on track and made her presence known in theWWEUniverse, where she took on Chelsea Green, B-Fab, and Morgan before getting eliminated by Ivy Nile after 16 minutes.
4) Drew McIntyre gets eliminated by Damian Priest
The Men’s Rumble match wasfull of visible errors, where fans were divisive over different creative decisions that were showcased during the entirety of the match. Amidst everything, the #17 entrant, Drew McIntyre, also showcased his disappointment from the match, who was eliminated in a bizarre manner by Damian Priest.
His frustration was visible on his face, where he was grinding his teeth about the incident. However, that wasn’t all because PWInsider viaWrestle Opsreported that“something went wrong”with the Scottish Warrior’s elimination in the match, where he stormed backstage“screaming and cursing.”

The report also mentioned how the storyline is affected because“someone had to get their moves in.”It was also reported that he left the stadium long before the match even ended.
3) Teased Returns overhyped the PPV
The 38th Royal Rumble had a lot of buzz following it, especially because of howsome big names were rumored to return home. Even before the kickoff, Stephanie McMahon teased that the WWE Royal Rumble would be filled with surprises. For several weeks, the return of several stars injured from the show was teased, including Becky Lynch and Jade Cargill.

The list of returns also hinted at the potential return of AJ Lee, as her husband, CM Punk, teased her potential return during his interviews and promos. While names like AJ Styles, Nikki Bella, Alexa Bliss, and many more returned and made their presence known. The speculation surrounding the rumored returns set a high standard for February’s PLE, making the fans hate it as it didn’t feature their favorite wrestlers.
2) Bianca Belair breaks character on live television
Another major blunder in the Women’s Royal Rumble match was how Bianca Belair broke character as she participated in the match to punch her golden ticket to WrestleMania. During the match, where bodies were falling over the top rope, a hilarious incident was noticed by the eagle-eyed fans, where Jordynne Grace slammed Belair in Naomi several times.
This incident made one-half of the Tag Team Champions crackup before she fell onto the canvas. While our favorite wrestlers have totally different personalities outside the ring, this incident made the fans see the real side of the wrestler for a brief moment on live television.

1) Jey Uso winning the Men’s Rumble Match
For many, Jey Uso winning the Men’s Royal Rumble over John Cena or CM Punk was the worst thing possible. Primarily, because everyone thinks he is just another overhyped wrestler that fans love to see on screen. Thus, they started to bomb Paul “Triple H” Levesque on social media as they witnessed the worst winner in the match’s long history.

However, theCerebral Assassin proves with his gutsy decisionthat it was best for business, as John Cena lost the match, meaning he can’t tie Stone Cold’s record of winning the most Royal Rumble matches, that is, 3. Thus, not making Cena’s last year a fairytale run.
Additionally, Punk getting eliminated in the match teases a Triple-threat match at WrestleMania 41 against Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, as a brawl took place outside the ring between the three.
