Officially revealed in January of this year with a cinematic trailer,Rebel Wolves, the studio comprised of former CD Projekt RED developers, has now given us our first gameplay look at The Blood of Dawnwalker.

This isn’t your typical gameplay trailer, as the studio has provided us with an extensive 15-minute look at how the game currently plays.

Shake things up, from new choices to unique builds and hidden quests.

Please note that what you’re about to see is from a pre-beta build running on PC. If you see bugs, or notice visual inconsistencies, it’s not representative of the final version of the game.

The Blood of Dawnwalker Gameplay Debut Brings That Witcher Vibe

The 15-minute gameplay overview gives us an early look at combat, some of the abilities Coen has at his disposal as a human, and even a small glimpse of what our hero can do as a vampire.

We also see an early look at the character inventory screen, skill trees and menus, which could change from now up to release.

Ciri, the new protagonist from the upcoming Witcher 4 game, fighting a monster.

Like it or not, you can easily spot the Witcher inspiration from the game. As someone who’s a fan of CD Projekt RED’s franchise, I’m perfectly fine with that.

In the press release sent out, Rebel Wolves talks about Coen’s duality as a human and vampire, and how it affects combat, stating, “As a Dawnwalker, Coen is neither fully human nor entirely vampire. By day, he can wield both a sword and use magical runes in the form of bloody scars etched on his skin. However, at night, Coen embraces his supernatural instincts, and unlocks an entirely new powerset. His nocturnal abilities include lethal vampiric claws and Shadowstep, a skill that allows him to swiftly navigate across rooftops. The Blood of Dawnwalker uses a directional combat system designed to bring cinematic intensity and tactical challenge to every confrontation. Players must study enemy movements, block precisely, and time counterattacks to execute seamless, strategic takedowns.”

State Of Unreal: The Witcher 4 Will Run At 60 FPS On PS5

The first gameplay footage of The Witcher IV was shown during the State of Unreal presentation, where it was confirmed it would run at 60fps on PS5.

As a vampire, Coen needs to feed to survive. We see how Rebel Wolves develops around this mechanic and not have the character feel like a villain. Players will be able to choose whether to incapacitate or outright kill a victim they feed on. Alternatively, they can feed on animals, which I assume isn’t ideal.

Based on what we’ve seen so far, The Blood of Dawnwalker is on the right path. Will it be as beloved as The Witcher franchise? That’s a question we can’t answer until we play the game ourselves. Rebel Wolves isaiming at a 2026release for the open-world RPG on consoles and PC.

In comparison, CDPR alsoreleased a gameplay look at The Witcher 4, though the studio was quick to point out that it is the game, but it’s not exactly gameplay. It’s a bit confusing, but what we’re treated to is a sight to behold.

The Witcher 4 has no release date set, though I would be surprised to see this see a release next year given how CDPR takes its time developing their games. If you’re looking forward to the franchise’s next entry, don’t forget that Ciri will be the new protagonist, arole that CDPR has explained in detail.

There isa new update on the way for The Witcher 3,which fans can look forward to dropping sometime this year.
