Touken Ranbu Warriorson Nintendo Switch will get a gameplay demo in Japan so fans can try it out before release, here’s when the demo will be available.
Touken Ranbuis based on a simple concept: What if Japanese swords turned into hot guys, and were time traveling to fight bad time travelers trying to change history? DMM and Nitroplus teamed up together to create this media mix franchise, launching the free-to-play gameTouken Ranbu Onlinein January 2015. The series gained an incredible following over the years, with an audience mainly composed of Japanese women, nicknamed the “Katana Women”. And as a media mix franchise,Touken Ranbugot highly prolific stage plays in Japan, and anime adaptations by Studio Ufotable.
Franchises such as Koei Tecmo’s originalDynasty WarriorsandSamurai Warriorshave always been popular among Japanese women. Capcom’sSengoku Basaraseries later joined the fray too. So it made a lot of sense when Koei Tecmo announced on June 19, 2025, aMusougame for theTouken Ranbufranchise,Touken Ranbu Warriors.
Touken Ranbu Warriorsdemo release date and time on Nintendo Switch
The demo will be released on June 26, 2025, at midnight JST which is 10 AM EST/7 AM PST.Click herefor other time zones and a countdown.
The demo will be permanently available, however, it’ll only be in Japanese. Koei Tecmo America didn’t announce the demo, as it was only revealed during the game’s latest Japanese live stream on February 2. The stream most notably featured Nitroplus producer Digitaro. You can watch it below:
You must switch your Nintendo account’s region to Japan in the account’s settings. Note that you will lose the money in your digital wallet if you do not use it up first. If your account is set to North America, you won’t even be able to change regions in the first place unless the digital wallet is empty. After that, go to theTouken Ranbu MusouJapanese eShop page. You can then download the demo by clicking the button saying ä½é¨çãã¦ã³ãã¼ã at the right.
Saves from the demo can be transferred to the full game, so keep that in mind if you plan on grabbing the Japanese version ofTouken Ranbu Warriors.
Touken Ranbu Warriorsreleases on June 17, 2025, on Nintendo Switch in Japan, with physical and digital versions. In North America, the game will release digitally only on June 21, 2025. The Japanese version ofTouken Ranbu Warriorswill also be playable on PC via the DMM Game Player.
