Tom Holland has been playing the role of Peter Parker for over eight years. Starting as an underdog and a character that needed to be guided, to being left alone in a multiverse where everyone he looks up to has passed, the actor has certainly seen this character through all his phases.

With this, it is safe to assume that he also understands what is best for Spider-Man and his story, and what would feel off for the progression of his character. A similar notion can be expected from Marvel Studios as a whole, with the character being one of the most profitable out of their entire superhero catalog.
With this in mind, it is interesting to find out that both Holland and Marvel Studios have been butting heads with Sony about what story shouldSpider-Man 4entail. While one wants to focus on the bigger story and turn the film into a multiverse flick, the other side wants a more friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

Since the release of the 2021 film, fans have been wondering what the next film will focus on, and it would seem that the storyline is something that is highly debated.
As revealed byMCU News and Updateson X, it would seem that Marvel and Tom Holland are not able to agree with Sony when it comes to what storylineSpider-Man 4will follow. Sony wants to make it another multiverse film, focusing on the bigger storyline of the MCU.

On the other hand, Holland and Marvel Studios want to focus on Spider-Man doing Spider-Man things. They want the film to focus more on his day-to-day life and a story that is tackling street-level conflict. While they want the movie to further the Kang storyline, they do not want it at the forefront.

The Protection of Tom Holland and Marvel’s Vision Comes At a Price
While fans seem to agree with the vision that Tom Holland and Marvel Studios have aboutSpider-Man 4, there is one key detail that may put them off. It would seem that Sony’s vision for the story, though certainly more expensive and time-consuming, will be able to release a lot sooner.
Assuming that it was the original plan forSpider-Man 4for it to become a multiverse film, a release date somewhere around mid-2025 can be expected if Sony has its way.
