According to notable insider Alex Perez (viaThe Cosmic Circus), it seems that the MCU is willing to do it again but this time with Benedict Cumberbatch. According to the insider,Avengers: Doomsdaywill have Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange face against insurmountable odds.

The film will focus on who exactly is to blame for the current state of the Multiverse. Was it Kang? Was it his variants? Was it someone else? What I’m hearing is that they’re going to try and shift the blame on Doctor Strange.

He further continued,

The idea is to make Strange the common denominator when it comes to incursions. And a good part of these films is Strange trying to reject that notion that All Stranges are meant to doom the universe, by making him the one who chooses to save it.

It seems that Doctor Strange’s powers have already been tested two times in the case of Multiversal incursions and collapses. You know what they say, ‘Third time’s the charm’.

The MCU does not like to leave loose ends unattended. Almost every character has a beginning, peak action, and a satisfying end (with some exceptions, of course).

Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange has already faced the wrath of Multiversal incursions twice, namely inSpider-Man: No Way HomeandDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

As the interview further continued, Alex Perez was asked about how these two events would affect the story inAvengers: Doomsday. The notable insider stated that both of these incursions will be very vital to the plot of the upcoming MCU film.

Oh, 100%. Both of those films introduce the concept of Incursions and according to my sources, the incursion we saw near the end of No Way Home is the incursion Clea was referring to fixing at the end of Multiverse of Madness.

Only time can tell whether these incursions will have prepared Doctor Strange for the upcoming battle or will Benedict Cumberbatch understand that his character will have to make the ultimate sacrifice in the upcoming movie.
