If you’ve played more than 10 minutes ofStarfield, you’ve likely worked out how frustrating traveling between different systems can be. With over 1,000 different planets to travel to, finding the correct solar system can often feel tedious when you’re just staring at dots on a map.
Well, if you’re a PC player (sorry, Xbox users) there’s a new mod in town that aims to rectify just that. The mod, which is aptly named ‘Show Star Names’, does exactly what it says on the tin. The description for the mod states that it will “always show star names when on the galaxy map. Names will be briefly hidden when selecting a stacked system (e.g. Narion + Valo). Also removed the name text moving around when panning the map.”

As the mod is brand-new, the creator appears to be anticipating a few teething problems. Over on the Starfield mods subreddit, the creator said, “There might be some upcoming tweaks to reduce the name overlap since it does suck in a few places. I do want to find the code where it decides to cluster stars and adjust that too.” They also noted that similar to one of their previous mods, this mod changes a minimal amount of files in the hopes that it will be compatible with any existing mods that the user may have installed.
If, like many other Starfield players around the world, you’re sick of trying to work out where a specific star system is on the game’s giant map of white and red dots, head over to themod’s NexusMods pageand follow the installation instructions, which we’ve included below:

Starfield might have a lot of lingering issues, but Bethesda is on board with rectifying many of the problems that players have. Recently, the studio confirmed that future updates will include brightness and contrast controls, Nvidia DLSS support, an ‘eat’ button for food, and a FOV slider. The latter of which was recently released as part of the game’s1.7.36 update.
