Bryan Cranston has always had a soft spot for shunned and damaged characters. Whether it be the terminally ill and morally evil Walter White or the despairing and ethically bankrupt Michael Desiato, Cranston’s roles speak volumes even without the actor having to utter a single word.

Such a powerful performance, of course, is not simply the credit of an actor but the script, dialogue, character arc, and plot building as well. WhileBreaking Badpresented a perfect score on each of those traits of the story, one other series also managed to snag Cranston’s attention for its attention to detail –Your Honor.
Bryan Cranston sets his terms forYour HonorSeason 3
Most ofBryan Cranston‘s accomplishments as an actor were swept up in the hurricane of fame thatBreaking Badbrought to his career. Neither his role as Hal inMalcolm in the Middlenor Michael Desiato inYour Honorhas been able to reach the stratospheric level of fame and success as his role as the high school teacher turned drug lord inVince Gilligan‘s iconic AMC drama.
The actor has had very limited screen appearances compared to other in-demand professionals working in the industry. When asked about it, Cranston chalks that up to“I don’t need a job. I don’t want a job. I love to work, but there has to be a good reason.”[viaVanity Fair] However, when it comes to picking up scripts, the reason behind doing the project has to outweigh his love for work.

“He really cares…”: Bryan Cranston is More Than Just Breaking Bad, Still Makes Time To Be With His Other TV Show Son
Whenever asked about returning to his role as Michael Desiato, these were the same conditions that Bryan Cranston established after filming two seasons ofYour Honor. Although the Showtime series proved to be a huge hit, Cranston’s awareness of his character’s arc prevents him from dragging out a role beyond its well-intended end, despite not quite saying goodbye to the show yet.
In case he did ever return to do a Season 3 of the show, the story, character evolution, and overall plot need to be marvelous enough to add to the legacy that two seasons ofYour Honorhave already established.

Your Honorstill has a place in Bryan Cranston’s heart
There is still a possibility of Bryan Cranston returning toYour Honorafter the curtain fell on the last episode of Season 2 in March 2023. Despite the long hiatus and no word from either the showrunners or the network, Cranston is positive that he would not say no to the offer of returning as Michael Desiato.
When he filmed theBreaking Badfinale, the closure had been so complete that Cranston found it impossible to breathe any more life into the character outside aBetter Call Saulflashback episode and a SuperBowl commercial.Your Honordoes not deserve such an utter and complete closure since the character’s journey is far from over.

“I’d feel bad”: Bryan Cranston Was Ready to Lose Breaking Bad Fans Over the One Thing That Vince Gilligan Kept Pushing Till the End
Speaking toVanity Fairduring a 2023 interview, Cranston claimed:
The story of the second season of Your Honor really got to me because it was like, Okay, yes, if a man loses his soul, compromises his ethics, and ends up losing everything anyway, what happens to that man? Where does he go? Where’s redemption? Is forgiveness part of that equation? Can he forgive himself? And what does happen to a person who experienced grave despair?
Such questions plagued him for every mile he walked in Michael Desiato’s shoes. And rather than shunning the prospect of ever reprising such an ethically and morally burdened character, Bryan Cranston claims:

If there was something impactful like that again that was proposed for season three ofYour Honor,I would very much entertain it, but I just don’t know what that is yet.
The role of Michael Desiato helped win Bryan Cranston a Golden Globe nomination in the Best Actor category. Adapted from the Israeli television series,Kvodo,Your Honorcurrently sits on a 7.6 rating onIMDb.
Your Honoris streaming on Paramount+ and Netflix.
