ThoughNetflix’s The Witcherhas taken many creative liberties in their retelling of the beloved Witcher franchise, some things remain the same such as monsters and their predators, the Witchers. From bloodthirsty beasts to ancient entities, these creatures show the delicate balance between man and monster.

Monsters in the show can also be encountered in the Witcher video games, though their strength in this article is strictly based on the show. Every monster has its own motives, whether it be to eat flesh or protect your forest, but few can dominate Witchers, and even fewer can best them. The monsters on this list are the ones that come close.
If you have not finished the first three Seasons of The Witcher on Netflix, be aware that there are some light spoilers ahead.

10Kikimora
The Kikimora is the first monster we’re introduced in Netflix’s The Witcher, and the first time we’re introduced to Geralt as well. It sets your expectations with the kind of monsters we’re going to see in the show.
With its uncanny speed and venomous strikes, encountering a Kikimora is a harrowing experience that demands a Witcher’s expertise. Its spider-like appearance also adds to its unnerving look in general and judging by the way it tossed around Geralt, a Kikimora is a force to be reckoned with.

9Flesh Monster
The Flesh Monster is perhaps the most disturbing of the monsters introduced in the Netflix show, with multiple hands and faces and enough strength to toss Geralt around like a ragdoll. It consists of three different bodies that seem to be distortedly connected to each other, and as Geralt killed parts of the monster, the heads that were disconnected from the main body also died off as well.
Though it wasn’t a big challenge to our humble Witcher, the Flesh Monster still posed somewhat of a threat to Geralt. It isn’t the strongest monster but is definitely one of the more grotesque creatures in the Witcher universe.

Ghouls are also a contender for the creepiest-looking monster in the Witcher universe. They are small, agile, and ravenous creatures driven by an insatiable hunger for human flesh. Geralt ran into a pack of them back in Season One, and they overwhelmed him to the point where he was eventually bitten by one.
Ghouls’ strength lies in numbers and if one of them manages to bite a human, their poison is strong enough to kill that person. In fact, Geralt would have succumbed to the poison himself if it weren’t for a helpful farmer and his Witcher mutations, making them one of the few monsters that brought Geralt to his knees in the show.

The Aeschna is part of the latest addition to the monsters in the show, showing up in Season Three. It’s a monster that lives in the depths of the sea attacking wary travelers and merchant boats. It has a strong jaw that is capable of ripping people to shreds if someone’s unlucky enough to meet one.

It’s also strong enough to throw people around, and if Geralt was facing it alone, he might’ve had some trouble. But he was assisted by Ciri; in fact, with this particular monster, Ciri was the one who was fighting it with Geralt’s assistance. Her Witcher training proved useful as this was one of the first monsters that she slayed.
The Leshy is a curious monster since it is technically not a monster at all, but rather a guardian of the forest. A Leshy will only be a danger to you if you threaten the forest, and given how the humanoid tree looks and fights, people, and Witchers tend to avoid facing one.

It reproduces by marking an individual, as seen with Eskel’s fate in the show, and then the Leshy takes over the host body and fights till the person dies. It took two Witchers to take down Eskel’s Leshy, showing just how strong a Leshen is in the show.
A Striga is a cursed monster that was once a girl, but because of a curse, has a malformed appearance and uncanny strength. There is a cure for most cursed monsters and in the case of a Striga, it’s to allow it to not reach its resting place till morning.
Geralt had to figure out the cure by interrogating the one who had initially cursed the Striga, and when he grasped the idea of fighting one for a whole night, started to regret his good intentions. It’s one of the few monsters in the show that gave Geralt a good beating, evidence of its strength.
The Myriapod has the same insect-like inspiration as the Kikimora, though it’s considerably tougher to take down. In Season Two, while Geralt and Ciri were fighting Eskel’s Leshy, the Myriapod mysteriously showed up out of nowhere and tore the Leshy apart.

It showcased its true strength by showing that it can eat Leshy’s for breakfast, and it took a lot of strategy and Geralt using Ciri as bait to slay the creature. It’s also extremely agile, covering long distances, showing how quickly it can keep up with its prey.
The Bruxas in the Witcher lore are fascinating creatures. They’re higher vampires that have a terrifying set of teeth, distinct from vampires you see in fiction normally. They’re known to have an uncontrollable thirst for blood and can sometimes be misunderstood creatures, like the one in the first episode of Season Two.
With superhuman strength, speed, and the ability to transform into a bat and fly, the Bruxa is a deadly adversary that can swiftly close the distance and deliver claw swipes that overwhelm their victims easily. They’re probably the most terrifying monster to grace the show and are also close to the strongest with enough strength to wipe out entire human settlements.
The Djinns are one of the stronger unseen monsters in the Witcher show, shown to have immense power in the form of granting wishes. They can’t be stopped until all the wishes are used, but Djinns are petty creatures, and you have to phrase your wish perfectly, so they don’t use it against you.
Their weakness is that they can be tamedby powerful sorceresses and experienced mages. Geralt and Jaskier run into a Djinn when Geralt is looking to cure his insomnia by wishing for sleep. Jaskier is attacked by said Djinn and by happenstance, they run into Yennefer. The Djinn was strong enough to not succumb to Yennefer’s sorcery and only went away after Geralt’s last wish.
1Deathless Mother
The Deathless Mother is a show-exclusive monster that appears as an old woman who grants her victims what they ‘deserve’. Her name is Voleth Meir, and she’s shown to be a demon who feeds on pain and suffering, which grants her power until she finally breaks out of her hut and makes her way to Ciri, where she promptly possesses her.
She then topples the Kaer Morhen monolith and manages to summon basilisks which slay multiple Witchers while she was casually holding Ciri hostage. In the end,her goal was to reunite with the Wild Hunt, and her power, in regard to the monsters in the show, still has yet to be topped.
