Apart from millions of fans, pop star Taylor Swift was also reportedly a fan of the series. Dobrev revealed that the makers actually tried to get theAll Too Wellsinger to come on board the show and play a recurring character. However, it never materialized and her role was played by Arielle Kebbel.

According to Dobrev, one of the show’s fans included Taylor Swift. After being aware of this, the makers ofThe Vampire Diariesreportedly tried to write a role for theLove Storysinger and approach her for the role. However, it reportedly did not materialize as expected, despite the makers trying really hard.
Dobrev mentioned that though it did not pan out as expected, Swift would have been great in the role. She said to E! News (viaEW),
I remember at the very beginning, we heard that Taylor Swift was a fan of the show. And then the producers tried to write a role for her. It didn’t work out schedule-wise, obviously, she wasn’t on the show. But that was a surprising one. She would have been great.
The show’s connection to Taylor Swift did not end there, however, as series co-creator Julie Plec was seen with actress Candice King, who played Caroline Forbes in the show attending the pop star’s Eras Tour concert in London (viaInstagram).

Swift’s claim of being aTVDfan seemed to encourage the makers to write a role for her. Co-creator Kevin Williamson revealed toE! Newsthat they tried really hard to get her on board but it did not work out. He said,
[I was] desperate to have [Swift] come play a vampire. Wouldn’t she make an amazing Kirsten Dunst circa Interview with the Vampire-type? Oh my god, I cannot tell you how hard I’m trying to get her. I would kill to have her on the show!
However, the role they had written for Swift, which was Lexi, eventually went to Arielle Kebbel, who instantly became a fan favorite.
