The NPD Group have just released theirsales charts for the month of June, which was emphatically topped by Naughty DogsThe Last of Us: Part II. Now in a separatetweet, industry analyst Mat Piscatella has revealed the current top five selling PS4 console exclusives, based on dollar sales.The chart, which takes into account both physical and digital sales, looks like this;
The chart does come with some caveats that have a fairly significant impact on the chart. Sales of games that were included as part of hardware bundles do not count towards the overall amount, neither does DLC sales nor microtransactions. The reason this is so significant is thatUncharted 4: A Thief’s Endis the top-selling PS4 exclusive (and second top-selling PS4 game behindGTA V) when looking at actual units sold. However, the reason for the omission from this list though is because it sold heavily as part of a PS4 console bundle when the game was released.
This paves the way forMarvel’s Spider-Man, which recently had pseudo-sequelMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Moralesannounced, to take the top spot. This is relatively unsurprising because as well as being a fantastic game, it dropped right when the MCU was at its most prevalent and Marvel’s popularity was at an all-time high.
Marvel’s Spider-Manpipped Sony Santa Monica’sGod of War, which is probably the most critically revered game on the list, to the top spot.Horizon Zero Dawn, which also recently had asequel announced, then comes in at a very respectable third place, especially considering it’s the only brand new IP on the list.
Fourth and Fifth place on the list are occupied by two games that between them have incredibly only been out for around five months between them.The Last of Us: Part IItakes the fourth spot having only been out since the end last month. Should it continue to sell at such an impressive rate it would be no surprise to see it top this list come the end of the PS4 lifecycle. FinallyFinal Fantasy VII: Remakesneaks into fifth place after an incrediblysuccessful launch. Equally as impressive asThe Last of Us: Part IImaking the list given the limited sales time,Final Fantasy VII: Remakeis likely to have broken into the chart due to the long wait and many delays leading up to the game, and the sheer nostalgia for the original PS1 title.

With only a few months until the PS5 releases, it will be interesting to see how this list ends up, but you can almost bet that it won’t stay like this, especially with the wayGhost of Tsushimahas launched and howThe Last of Us: Part IIis continuing to fly out.
