The upcoming role-playing-game (RPG)Clair Obscur: Expedition 33is still a tantalizing three months away from release at the time of writing. That didn’t stop developer Sandfall Interactive from confirming their collaboration with Story Kitchen tocreate a film adaptation of the highly anticipated new video game.
Cast And Crew Are Currently Being Brought Onboard
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Sandfall Interactive to bring the rich, immersive world of ‘Expedition 33’ to the big screen,” announced Mike Goldberg and Dimitri M. Johnson, Story Kitchen’s founders.

An undisclosed number of BioWare devs from the Dragon Age team have been let go silently by EA.
While this is Sandfall Interactive’s first video game project, Story Kitchen is no stranger to video game adaptations, having recently delivered the first season of the Tomb Raider animated series that launched on Netflix this past October 2024. A second season of which has recently been announced, as well as their still in-development adaptation of Streets of Rage.
Adding Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 to their upcoming slate, Story Kitchen’s founders expressed excitement about the rich storytelling possibilities.

Trailers for the game reveal a dark fantasy settingin which the game’s eight protagonists try against all odds to stop the Paintress, a God-like being whose mysterious powers cankill everyone of whichever given age she emblazons in the sky. Something she repeats on an annual basis.
Taking loving inspiration from mainly Japanese RPG series such as Persona and Final Fantasy, Clair Obscur regularly tops thelists of anticipated games releasing this year.
Both Game And Film Are Banking On A Story-First Approach
Commenting on Story Kitchen’s ever-growing repertoire of video game adaptations, developer Sandfall Interactive’s Guillaume Broche had this to say, “Their expertise in storytelling and passion for our vision make them the perfect team to translate our game into a captivating film.”
With two Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 projects in multiple entertainment mediums to look forward to, players at least can be assuaged by the fact that they’ll be able to get their hands on the gamethis upcoming June 04, 2025.
