Of all the strongest clans inNaruto, the Uchiha clan was feared and ostracized in the series. The clan’s possession of Sharingan and Indra’s Curse of Hatred led to Konoha’s discrimination towards it. While the sequel spin-offBorutohumanizes the Uchiha members, it fails to answer the burning question regarding Sharingan’s legacy.

Since Sasuke and Sarada are the remaining members of the Uchiha clan, one cannot help but wonder if the kekkei-genkai Dojutsu will die out. While there were several experiments and research projects on Dojutsu, speculations arise as Reddit users point to unanswered questions.
Reddit fans point to unanswered questions regarding Sharingan in Naruto
Sharingan is one of the three great Dojutsu possessed by the Otsutsuki and Uchiha clans inNaruto. It is also the Uchiha clan’s kekkei genkai Dojutsu. Apart from being one of the most powerful Dojutsu, Sharingan was the most sought-after. Just like Byakugan, Uchiha clan members were reduced to trophies due to this powerful ability.
From Danzo’s Sharingan arm to Orochimaru’s cloning of Shin Uchiha, the clan was subject to endless torture. However, that was not it. The clan massacre was by far the most brutal thing Uchihas were subjected to. TheThird Hokage’s failureand the Second Hokage’s prejudice were pivotal in enabling the downfall of the Uchiha clan along with the massacre.

Masashi Kishimoto’s Greatest Crime is How Disastrously He Has Treated an Iconic Naruto Jutsu in Boruto
Masashi Kishimoto‘s writing of the Uchiha clan massacre led to several burning questions regarding Sharingan’s legacy on Reddit. This Reddit user noted how the Uchiha clan’s bloodline was doomed since its massacre due to there being solely three survivors.
Since the Uchiha clan is the direct descendant of Indra Otsutsuki, this user’s speculation regarding the Sharingan’s survival seems all the more plausible.

Shin Clones created by Orochimaru inBorutocould be the key to Sharingan’s revival as this user points out.
Regarding Uchiha Clan’s massacre, there are only two surviving members of the clan. While Sarada and Sasuke possess the Sharingan, several possibilities may debunk the myth regarding its dilution. In addition to that, Sarada Uchiha may not be the sole possessor of the kekkei-genkai Dojutsu after all.

Sarada may not be the only possessor of the Sharingan in Boruto
Sarada Uchiha is the remaining member of the Uchiha clan inBorutoapart from her father Sasuke. She’s currently the only true descendant of the Uchiha clan. Apart from her chakra control, she is thewielder of Mangekyo Sharingan. While she is the sole successor of the Uchiha clan, she may not be the only wielder of the Dojutsu.
Apart from Orochimaru’s experiments on Sharingan, Obito’s laboratory housed around 160 Sharingan of the Uchiha clan. With the latter’s death, the series hasn’t explored the possibility ofventuring into the hideout for research. Although some fans have speculated the laboratory’s ruin, there’s no true confirmation regarding that whatsoever.

“I gotta give Boruto another chance”: Boruto Has Already Surpassed the Best Fight of Kakashi From Naruto Despite All the Hate Against the Series
The possibility of exploring Obito Uchiha’s laboratory would pave the way for research on Sharingan. It could also mean the revival of the kekkei-genkai. Although Shin Uchiha’s clones are genetically modified, they may hold the key to modifying the Dojutsu with Orochimaru’s expertise. All in all, while there may seem a possibility of Sharingan dying out, it won’t happen soon.
Naruto and Boruto: Naruto New Generations are available for streaming on Crunchyroll. The manga is available for reading on Viz Media.
