In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a few anomalies exist that are so random and delightfully spontaneous that only the most loyal fans can appreciate taking the time to find them. One of those anomalies includes baring it all on the screen, and to date, only 2 actors have done it for the sake of comedic relief: Chris Hemsworth (inThor: Love and Thunder) and Kathryn Hahn (inAgatha All Along).

In the most recent MCU production,Agatha All Alongtakes a page right out of the DO NOT section of the Marvel handbook and shows the lead actress in a state of complete undress. The scene culminates in a hilarious showdown in the middle of an idyllic suburban street lined with white picket fence houses, lawnmowers, and one man who desperately tries to shield his eyes from the blistering embarrassment of the Purple Witch’s full frontal.
Kathryn Hahn Goes Uncensored in the MCU
The witchy MCU series that is breaking expectations and raising hopes for Marvel’s dwindling future has given the fans a lot to be grateful for. The eccentrically good and unpredictable series takes the fans back to the good old days of comic book fandom where a touch of the mystical and the occult made the adventures far more enjoyable.
ForKathryn Hahn(and the delectably odd Aubrey Plaza), coloring outside the line comes naturally. As such, traipsing down the land of voodoo trials and escapades gives the actors the perfect chance to show off their comedic chops. Speaking of holding a rare record as the only woman with “nudity in the MCU” on her resume, Hahn recounted onThe Jennifer Hudson Show:

When we see Agatha at the beginning, she’s completely without her powers. She has to bust out of the spell with help from some mysterious characters. When she first realizes it, I think the description was like, ‘She puts on a robe and goes outside.’ I was like, ‘I wonder if shewouldput on a robe? Because she’s in a feral state.’ I think she was just feral. She wouldn’t even be thinking of who she is.
From such a state of mind, connecting the dots to how Hahn’s character would be least bothered by walking out into broad daylight without any layers on is relatively easy. At the same time, the decision to not wear clothes in this particular scene was more than just a logical step for the actress.

Speaking of her only other male counterpart who shares her record, Hahn claims,“Thor and me. Just our butts encased in gold — that’s my dream”before adding that the rarity of the feat felt equivalent to walking on the moon.
Kathryn Hahn and Chris Hemsworth Share a Dream
Thor: Love and Thunderwas a magnificent disappointment and a stain on Marvel’s registry. However, if the purpose of the film was to have the actors participate in a form of feel-good therapeutic sojourn where silliness reigns supreme and the mission objective is cringe comedy, then Taika Waititi andChris Hemsworthstruck pure gold.
But all complaints aside, the fourth soloThorsaga did fulfill a decade-old dream for the lead actor who first appeared in the MCU in 2011. Speaking toVarietyin a 2022 interview, Hemsworth claimed:

It was 10 years in the making that scene — kind of a dream of mine. The first time I played Thor I took my shirt off and I thought, “You know what’s gonna sweeten this… a decade from now it’s all gonna come off.”
Apparently, showing off their butts to comic book fans is not just specific to Kathryn Hahn. In that respect, she shares that rare record with the Thor actor. However, since entertainment co-exists with censorship, no amount of benign laughter from the audience can dampen the criticism raised by the on-screen nudity.

To claim that the partial nudity bordered on exploitative, however, would be a mistake. Rather, the idea to get buck naked on screen was, in both cases, the actors’ own. One could also argue, for the sake of political correctness, that the scene inThor: Love and Thunder, encouraged the stripping of a man against his will.
But when the actor suggests the idea, the director supports the gimmick, and the audience is sitting down for a good two hours of entertainment—being politically correct plays second fiddle to a movie about gods playing superheroes in movies adapted from comic books.
Agatha All Alongis currently streaming on Disney+. New episodes out every Wednesday.
