EA Sportshas announced a new update forUFC 5will be dropping forPlayStation 5andXbox Series X|Son June 24, filled with brand-new fighters, gameplay adjustments, bug fixes, and a fresh look for the UFC’s biggest star, Conor McGregor.
Ever since therelease of UFC 5 last year, UFC fans have beenbegging EA to update the likenessof McGregor. Prior to yesterday’s announcement, McGregor had two separate styles: his old-school Featherweight look, which included a slimmer look, fewer tattoos, and braids; and then his more bulky, shaved head appearance, which many will remember from his rematch with Dustin Poirier at UFC 257.

McGregor was originally scheduled to fight Michael Chandler at UFC 303 next weekend but was forced to pull out of the fight due to a broken toe. EA likely had next week’s update in the works prior to McGregor’s removal from UFC 303, so the studio has opted to move forward with the character redesign, but fans aren’t happy.
We haven’t been given an in-game look at the new model yet, but fans were given a sneak peek at the all-new McGregor via a new screenshot, which you may see in the post below.
After the image was released by EA, fans immediately started blasting the redesign. “Looks nothing like him,“one usersaid over on Reddit. Whileanother usersaid, “it’s so sad that half of the fighters look nothing like themselves in that game.”
New UFC 5 Update Set For June 24
McGregor’s redesign might be a hot topic in the UFC community right now, but it’s not the only thing that’s included in next week’s new update.
Patch 1.10 will be deployed on June 24 at 10AM PT, with 30 minutes of downtime prior to the update’s release. It will include a total of 13 new fighters, the most ever added in one update. If you want to find out who will be joining the UFC 5 roster, you can check out all of the names below:
