Just when you thought you couldn’t get any more Battle Royale titles, today’s Nintendo Direct proves us wrong and introducesTetris 99, a last man standing version of the classic shape slotting puzzler. This, of course, comes after last years incredible lookingTetris Effect, but of course, they are not the same, but at least we know everyone still lovesTetris!
That’s right, it’s a Battle Royale Tetris with 99 players who will be able to compete against one another in a bid to be the last player standing. The announcement confirmed that it’ll be available to download shortly after the Nintendo Direct ends.
It’ll also only be available as an exclusive offer and free-to-play for Nintendo Switch Online members. So if jumping from the top of the interface to the bottom, planning to rage hell with shapes is your thing, this might be worth your time.
You’ll be able to find the trailer below which shows off gameplay footage with 99 players going at it. There’s also “Random”, “Killshots”, “Badges”, and “Counter” seen at the top indicating some offensive and offensive tactics to the gameplay. The usual gameplay occurs, but completion of a row of blocks will cause blocks to fill up the screens of your opponents.
You’ll see your opponents screens surrounding your playing area, giving you a good indication as to how well they’re doing.
Tetris 99will also include events being introduced to the game in order to keep players coming back for more. It’s certainly a different take on Battle Royale, but will it be enough to go against the newly launchedApex Legends?
