Bandai Namco and Dengeki Online held a new live stream forSword Art Online Alicization Lycorison March 22, revealing the game’s second story trailer. The trailer featuresSAOAL’s opening theme song,Scar/let,which is sung by ReoNa, and focuses on the game’s new original character, Medina Orthinanos.Note that only a Japanese version of the trailer is available for now. An official English subbed version should be published in the next few hours by Bandai Namco America, and we’ll update this article with it when it’s available. In my Unneeded Opinion, we don’t learn that much in the trailer, seeing it’s the usual JRPG trailer, full of out-of-context one-liners. In a nutshell, Medina seems to end up being manipulated by some game original villain, so Kirito’s gonna beat him up while screaming with Yoshitsugu Matsuoka’s cool voice. The usualSAOstuff. In case you didn’t hear about it yet, SAOALadapts the first part of theAlicizationarc but has some major story differences starting at what corresponds to episode 24 of theSAO Alicizationanime.
ReoNa tweeted about the game’s theme song as well, mentioning the song reflects how the characters' souls can be assimilated to scarlet-colored flowers growing close together.
Besides the new story trailer, moreSword Art Online Alicization Lycorisgameplay was shown during the stream as well, and we’ll be covering that soon in a separate article.
As a reminder,Sword Art Online Alicization Lycorisis developed by Aquria, the Japanese studio who didSAO Infinity Moment, Hollow Fragment, andHollow Realization. Producer Futami also teased thatcharacters who don’t appear in theAlicizationarc first part like Silica might still be in the game.
