Streets of Rage 4was an unexpected retro revival when it wasunveiled last August, and since then we have been learning more andmore about the game. Guard Crush Game, Lizardcube, and DotEmu recently revealed that when it comes toStreets of Rage 4’ssoundtrack, classicStreets of Ragecomposers Yuzo Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima will be returning.

This partnership was apparently possible thanks to a Japanese label for game musicians called Brave Wave Productions. While Yuzo Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima are the most notable composers as they worked on the originalStreets of Ragegames, three other artists were also unveiled today. Yoko Shimomura, who has worked onStreet Fighter II, Kingdom Hearts, andParasite Eve, Hideki Naganuma ofJet Set Radio FutureandSuper Monkey Ballfame, andNinja GaidenandTecmo Bowl’sKeiji Yamagishi will also be creating original music forStreets of Rage 4.

The developers are quite enthusiastic about having so many composers of classic games on board, with Executive Producer Cyrille Imbert saying “Among these names stand some of the most legendary and memorable musical architects in video game history. Since we first announced the title last fall, fans have been asking who will be involved in the game’s soundtrack as it is a vital element to theStreetsofRagegames. We are thrilled to confirm this world-class lineup of musical talent forStreetsofRage4.” DotEmu also hinted that there are “more surprises” in store when it comes toStreets of Rage 4’ssoundtrack, so it will be interesting to see what they mean by that.
