Most of the attention was aimed towards the team at the helm: Danny & Michael Philippou, otherwise known as the duo RackaRacka. The pair were applauded for their work directing the 2022 A24 horror, Talk to Me, and many thought this was a sign that Street Fighter was in safe hands - even though the genres are very different.

Another factor that generated confidence was RackaRacka’s ‘Real Life Street Fighter’ skit uploaded to the pair’sYouTubechannel eight years ago. The three-minute parody certainly brought the energy of the fighter franchise, despite the effects being low-budget, and the comedic short undoubtedly matched the vibe of Street Fighter, with plenty of in-game references to bring it to life.
