Yesterday afternoon,Bethesdaconfirmed that a newStarfieldupdate would be released inSteamBeta next week. The update, however, has once again disappointed players as some are calling the included new features unnecessary.
“On March 6, we’ll be putting our next Starfield update into Steam Beta,“Bethesda announced. The studio went on to say that the update “focuses on quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes” in preparation for new features and content later this year.

Starfield Could Be Gearing Up To Release Its Shattered Space DLC Pretty Soon
An update to Starfield’s Steam database suggests a DLC reveal could be imminent.
While the full changelog won’t be released until next week, Bethesda did give fans a glimpse into what to expect from the update. First up is the ability to add expressions to the player’s character model whilst in photo mode, allowing players to capture that perfect moment exactly as they intended.

Next up are improvements to the scanner, which can now continue to be used to monitor the world around players while still harvesting resources or opening doors. Then there are some other important bug fixes, such as the return of David Barron, an NPC who was unavailable for some players during the “Sabotage” mission.
Starfield Fans Aren’t Happy With Upcoming Update
Even though the update isn’t even out yet, players are already expressing their disappointment with what’s to come. Over on the Starfield subreddit, many users explained how they would much prefer Bethesda to be focusing on more vital quality-of-life improvements, as opposed to photo mode enhancements.
“What puzzles me though is wasting time on things like photo mode enhancements…I’d much rather them expand upon outpost building, tweaking how random encounters and POIs are generated for more variety, or anything else that would enhance gameplay,” Reddit userbluebarrymannysaid.

Another user by the name ofelfinkoechoed a similar sentiment, saying, “I think what’s kind of annoying with updates like this, is that there appears to be a lot of low-hanging fruit-type issues that could be addressed to improve the game. Like the vendor credits for example. How hard could that be? Five months to fix the head-turning bug seems crazy.”
Thecomments continue, ranging from “Another underwhelming update,” to themore sarcastic, “In just six weeks, Bethesda implemented the feature that opens the door while scanning. I can’t wait to see what amazing updates there will be in 6 weeks!”

With so many broken quests and important fan-requested features, such as city maps and new ways to travel, it is baffling that Bethesda appears to be prioritizing photo mode enhancements, an improvement the community clearly isn’t bothered about. While Bethesda hassaid in the pastit will be bringing new ways to travel and city maps to the game in the future, it looks like, at minimum, players will be waiting another 6 weeks.
