WhileSquare Enixis a multi-platform video game publisher, it does seem to prefer Sony’s console more often than not. This leads to games like Final Fantasy 16 and other big games skipping Microsoft’s (and even Nintendo’s) platforms or appearing on them months later.

Well, given the recent statement released by developers from Square Enix, those who don’t own a PS5 (or even a PS4) will be glad to hear that the publisher aims to remedy that in the future. Speaking in an interview with Japanese outfit4Gamersto promote Fantasian Neo Dimenson, Square Enix director and executive officer Naoki Yoshida, or more commonly known as Yoshi-P, confirmed that not only are they releasing Fantasian Neo Dimension on all platforms (including the Xbox Series X|S) at the same time, but the plan now is to do it for more games.

Expect More Square Enix Games On Xbox And Other Platforms Outside of PlayStation

Here’s Yoshi-P’s statement (as translated by DeepL):

This time, we are releasing the Xbox Series X|S version at the same time.We plan to release more Square Enix titles simultaneously on each platform in the future, and this is the first of many such releases, so we hope that Xbox users will enjoy the game as well

15 Best Square Enix Games, Ranked

Square Enix has a storied history of many great gaming franchises, but which games are the best of the best?

Of course, the fact that both Final Fantasy 16 and Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth salesunderperformedshould be a huge part of that consideration. I mean, Square Enix has alienated an entire demographic of millions of gamers by not releasing some of their AAA RPGs on Xbox platforms. While chances are high that Square Enix inked an exclusivity deal with Sony for the games to only be available on PlayStation platforms regarding console releases, the payoff might not be enough to recoup the development and marketing budget.

Final Fantasy Crisis Core Reunion

As someone who wants to see as many people play amazing games as possible, I am all for this. Final Fantasy 7: Remake was released way back in 2020, and to this day, it’s still not playable on any console platform outside the PS4 and PS5. Would Nintendo and Xbox fans want to play it and its sequels? I’d hazard a guess that they wouldn’t say no.

Rather than cherry-picking which games appear on Xbox, why not release the game on all available platforms that can run it, no? Wouldn’t that make more fiscal sense? Thankfully, that seems to be where Square Enix is headed. Does this mean we’ll get a Final Fantasy 7: Remake announcement soon? We can’t say for sure, but this at least gives a glimmer of hope.
