With just a few days left before the release ofHouse of the Dragonseason two, the excitement is off the charts. Keeping up with the expectations set byGame of Thrones,the spin-off has successfully proven that it is just as good as the O.G. show, if not better. Soon, fans will get to see where the story goes next after the death of Queen Rhaenyra’s son, Prince Lucerys.
The best thing about this fantasy franchise has got to be its dragons! They are powerful beasts capable of causing unending destruction in the world. In a recent interview, showrunner Ryan Condal opened up about the fight for the Iron Throne between Team Black and Team Green and, while doing so, compared dragon Vhagar to a legendary basketball player – LeBron James.

As we step into the second season ofHouse of the Dragon,we have two sides competing for the throne – King Aegon’s Team Green and Queen Rhaenyra’s Team Black.
Both the leaders are convinced that they should be the ones to succeed their father, King Viserys, on the Iron Throne. Both teams have their allies, including some of the most ferocious beings out there – the dragons.

House Targaryen’s Team Black considerably has a lot more dragons than their opponent. These include Syrax, Caraxes, Vermax, Tyraxes, Meleys, Moondancer, and more.
On the other hand, House Hightower’s Team Green only has three dragons to their name – Sunfyre, Dreamfyre, and Vhagar. However, as far as showrunnerRyan Condalis concerned, Vhagar has the upper hand on all of them.
Condal appeared onThe Official Game of Thrones Podcast: House of the Dragon,where, while talking about Team Green vs Team Black, he called Vhagar theLeBron Jamesof Dragons. He stated,
And though they don’t have as many dragons as Rhaenyra’s side, they do have Vhagar. That’s the LeBron James of dragons. It makes the whole team better and eats up most of the salary cap…Vhagar is a big threat.
The dragon is called the Queen of All Dragons and is ridden by Aemond in the series. During Aegon’s Conquest to conquer Westeros, Vhagar fought alongside two other dragons, Rhaenys’ Meraxes and Aegon’s Balerion. Despite being the smallest of the three, she successfully managed to swallow a horse whole, and her deadly flames could easily burn through armor. There was never a doubt about her ferociousness.
Now, she is the largest of all living dragons, and her wrath was proven in season one of the series where she devoured both Lucerys and his dragon, Arrax.

After Condal made his hilarious yet absolutely true statement about Vhagar being the LeBron James of dragons, NBA fans couldn’t keep their wits to themselves and drew up impressive comparisons between the fantasy series and the world of basketball.

While Vhagar may be the biggest and baddest alive right now, Balerion the Black Dread still remains superior amongst the dragons who ever lived. With his black fire, he could melt stone and steel as if they were plastic, and his wings were so huge that they could cast shadows on towns. Basically, you wouldn’t want your dragons to go up against Balerion, not even Vhagar.
The same goes for James and Jordan. While the former may be the best basketball player out there currently, the consensus is that the retired Jordan will always be unbeatable in terms of his career.
House of the Dragonis available to stream on Max, and season 2 will be released on June 16.
