Sega’s official Japanese Twitter account and its official site started a survey to ask which games should be included in the tentatively named Mega Drive Mini. Rather than a list of games, the survey asks you to choose between different episodes of three iconic game series released on Mega Drive:Sonic the Hedgehog,Puyo Puyo, andShining Force.
The first tweet asks if you’d rather want Mega Drive Mini to includeSonic the Hedgehog 1orSonic the Hedgehog 2.
The second one asks you to choose betweenPuyo PuyoandPuyo Puyo Tsu.
The third tweet asks players to pick betweenShining Force IandShining Force II.
The survey on theofficial siteasks the three same questions. The survey will end on March 4 at 17:00 JST.
Sonic the Hedgehogdoesn’t need a presentation.Puyo Puyois a puzzle game spinoff of the RPG seriesMado Monogatarideveloped by Compile, which ended up becoming much more popular and iconic than its original series.Mado Monogatari’s last game was over 20 years ago, whilePuyo Puyois extremely popular.Shining Forceis one of the strategy RPGs series who invented or populairzed many systems in the genre together with series such asLangrisserorFire Emblem,with each series having its own specificities.Shining Forceis also part of the largerShiningseries, which is still ongoing today, with the latest game beingBlade Arcus Rebellion From Shining, a fighting game spinoff.
Mega Drive Mini is scheduled to launch this year in Japan. It was first announced at Sega Fes 2018 back in April 2018, and there’s a fairly high chance its release date will be announced during Sega Fes 2019, where the results of this survey will be published. Sega Fes 2019 will be held on March 30 and March 31.
As a side note, Sega Fes 2019 is probably where we’ll finally get to see a trailer forShin Sakura Taisen, as Sega Fes 2018 was also when the game was first revealed. And despite Toshihiro Nagoshi’steasing a few months ago, we still haven’t heard more about the game yet.
