Sebastian Stan has to be proud of where he’s come in life, after having to move from a completely different part of the world to the United States for a better life, starting from scratch and reaching Hollywood stardom. Before coming into the limelight for his breakout role as Bucky inCaptain America: The First Avenger, Stan worked on a few great movies likeBlack Swan,The Covenant, and most notably the hit television showGossip Girl.

But there came a point when the Marvel veteran nearly bombed his entire career around the same time he was set to experience a breakthrough. There was a slight possibility we would have never seen him star alongside Chris Evans, rather be a part of Marvel’s biggest rival, DC Comics!
Sebastian Stan auditioned for one movie that Ryan Reynolds probably regrets doing
Much like the Romanian-American actor,Ryan Reynoldsis also one of Marvel’s biggest actors in the world right now.Deadpoolwasn’t a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe until Walt Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019. But it’s no secret Reynolds did an incredible job portraying one of the most complex characters from the Marvel comics.
However, before debuting as Deadpool, Reynolds was cast to play the lead character in DC’sGreen Lanternin 2011. Despite the franchise having great hopes for Hal Jordan’s Green Lantern, the movie ultimately tanked attracting an appalling25% ratingon Rotten Tomatoes and a5.5/10on IMDb.

Sebastian Stanrecently appeared in aninterviewwith Josh Horowitz where he spilled the beans on what he truly feels about auditioning for a movie that’s widely considered one of the worst superhero films ever. He said,
You’d come close, and it wouldn’t happen, and in a way, I got to tell you… looking back, I’m almost glad it didn’t [happen]. I don’t know if I could have handled that level of attention like some of those guys.

Stan revealed thatJared LetoandJustin Timberlakewere the others who auditioned along with him, and he believed he had no chance of landing that role because of how accomplished the others were at that point in time. Well, he better thank his stars for having other plans for him.
The Apprentice could also pose a threat to Sebastian Stan’s career
We’ve all probably heard about Sebastian Stan’s latest movie,The Apprentice, and that it’s all about the early life ofDonald Trump, the 45th President of the United States. While Stan narrowly escaped career suicide with theGreen Lanternin 2011,The Apprenticecurrently poses a threat to his name in the industry.
There have been multiplestories regarding the measures that had to be taken to prepare for the role, Stan certainly put a lot of effort and time into it. The movie’s director, Ali Abbasi claimed that releasing the film was the “most challenging” thing he’s ever done (viaBBC).

“It’s not entirely unintentional”: Real Reason Sebastian Stan’s Trump Biopic ‘The Apprentice’ is Releasing Right Before the US Election
It was also stated that Trump himself threatened to take legal action against the movie’s crew because of how “fake” and “ classless” he believes it is (via BBC). It’s been a week since the movie was released in the US, and it’s onlymade around $2.8 millionso far.
While Stan certainly escaped theGreen Lanternmovie, which was released a month before Marvel’sCaptain American: The First Avenger, the criticism ifThe Apprenticetanks is going to be terrible and unavoidable. It could seriously derail Stan’s career as well.
