League of Legendsis one of the biggest gaming franchises of all time. Not only in casual plays, this MOBA title has been a staple in the competitive gaming scenario as well for some years now. Along withCounter-StrikeandOverwatch, this game made Esports stand tall among the other conventional sports.
However, things are not the same anymore, as this highly popular game is becoming dull day by day. Even the live-action adaptation,Arcane, couldn’t attract new players to the game despite the huge success of the series itself. As a result, the whole game is on a constant downhill. And it seems the obstinate nature of the developers is the reason behind it.
Why isLeague of Legendsdegrading day by day?
There are a lot of things that Riot Games needs to fix ASAP inLeague of Legends. But it seems the developers have taken the dedicated players for granted. It seems they have become ignorant of all the necessary fixes in the game. For example, the overhauled Mastery System has become a lot more complex, which is supposed to be beneficial for dedicated players.
In the past, you would receive“mastery”points based on how well you performed and how the game turned out. From 1 to 5, you would require X points. From there, you would need S- or higher to unlock a certain token that would allow you to level them up (two and three, respectively).
Marks of Mastery is the new method of leveling up under this new system, which only concentrates on gaining mastery. To obtain these, you must play five games against the champion and receive certain grades, which increase in difficulty as you go along. You will start with a B and four Cs and work your way up to an A and four Cs.

Not only that, the client that runsLeague of Legendsis also troublesome. There are a lot of bugs and glitches in it, including one that breaks the friends list. The client also sometimes takes an eternity to load the actual game. On the other hand, the quality of the cosmetics in the game is declining as well—huge price tags, inadequate details, and blatant designs.
Arcanehasn’t managed to saveLeague of Legends
It’s not that the developers aren’t aware of all the persisting issues in the game. The devs actually banked it to the company’s ventures in the entertainment sector. However,despite spending $250 million on producing the entire 18-episode series, according to a report byBloomberg,Arcanedidn’t succeed in pulling new players into the game.
Not only that, thesecond season of Arcane was less successfulthan the first one, financially. However, Riot co-founder Marc Merrill absolutely blasted those claims, but the reality is something else. Even if, according to Merrill, Arcane was financially successful, the series failed to expand the gaming universe to new people. So as a whole, we can’t claim the series is successful.
Arcane Was a Massive Hit, but Did Little to Create Interest in League of Legends’ Slowly Dwindling Playerbase
As none of the two factors worked for the game—the live-action series and efforts from the developers—League of Legendsis going to be heavily affected for sure. Right now the game is based on only devoted players who have been playing the game for a long time. Now, if the older players start leaving the game when there is no rise in new players, then this legendary MOBA title is going to suffer in the long run for sure.
