ThePlague Taleseries is known for its captivating and emotional storytelling, intense level design, and immersive atmosphere. Set during the infamous Black Death plague of the mid-14th Century, the series has so far focused on the story of Amicia De Rune and her quest to save her younger brother, Hugo.
Persona 4 Remake Expected To Be Announced This Weekend After SGF Snub
The news is likely to come at the Microsoft Xbox Games Showcase 2025.
That could all be changing soon after a new mini-trailer appears to have been accidentally leaked on the Threads account of publisher Focus Entertainment. The post has since been deleted.

A New Female Protagonist?
During the short trailer, which appears to take place in Morocco or Algeria, a different girl is shown running and fightingthroughout various urban and rural environments.
It looks like the game willtake on more of a spin-off approachrather than necessarily being a mainline entry. One particular clue is the title “Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy” rather than having the series name at the forefront.

Somefans over on Reddithave speculated that this could be the origin story of Sophia, a prominent ally in A Plague Tale: Requiem. It seems as though the character design and appearance do align, which bodes well for those who enjoyed her as a companion in the game.
For those who haven’t played A Plague Tale: Requiem, Sophia is more of an independent rogue-type than Amisia and is a pirate smuggler. She captains a ship called the Sea Scorpion, which could mean that we are in fora larger and more explorable mapthan previous games.

The trailer, although brief, showed her in a variety of environments from jungles and seashores to cities with Northern African architecture.
Just how the trailer was posted when it was clearly not meant to be is unknown. However, it seems quite likely that the official announcement and further news could come during theXbox Games Showcase this Sunday, June 8th.

It wouldn’t be the first time we have heard of a potential third entry into the Plague Tale series,a 2023 job listing also hinted at a potential future release.
The Plague Tale series is criminally underrated, which is why I am certainly happy to see more in the pipeline, but I hope that developers Asobo Studio don’t depart too much from what made Innocence and Requiem so great—high-stakes, well-written, and emotionally engaging storytelling.
