The lake section ofResident Evil 4 Remakehas been greatly expanded from the original game. After defeating the lake monster, you’ll need to explore the lake by finding the locations marked on the mural to obtain the key to the church.

At each of these locations on the mural will be a shrine with a stone Dias, with Leon selecting the correct symbols to open the door. While it is possible to guess through extensive trial and error, the game hides the correct symbols nearby, making this puzzle much more doable. Unlike the large cave shrine, the smaller cave has no enemies to worry about and is a much easier task for Dias to complete.
Getting To The Small Cave Shrine
Inspecting the mural found after the lake monster fight will mark the location of both of the shrines on your map, making it much easier to locate them. Whilesome areas of the map are undiscoveredand will remain blank aside from the marker, it does help by clearly pointing players in the right direction. The small cave shrine islocated in the upper northeast corner of the lakeand doesn’t require much travel once you have entered the cave. Docking your boat, you’ll see thesmall two-story wooden structure aheadwith the Dias within.

The Symbols And The Dias
Around the shrine within the cave will be a total of three symbols to locate. These symbols will match the ones found on the Dias and arepainted in bright yellow paint along the wooden walls of the shrine and cave walls. The first symbol is the easiest to find,located along the left side of the shrine’s walkway, right past the ladder.
While the next symbol may seem like it’s right behind your current location from the previous symbol, it is actually incomplete and will require you to take the ladder to the second floor.Looking down on this symbol from the upper sectionwill have you notice a small second part of the symbol, with youneeding to line up Leon to get the full picture.
The final symbol islocated within the upper room of the shrineand can simply be found alongside the back wall from the way you came.
After seeing all three symbols, you’ll need to return to the Dias and select the correct ones. Theseimages are also flipped on the Dias, facing different ways from what you initially saw. For those looking for an immediate answer, the image above is pointing to the correct symbols to solve the Dias.It does not matter what order you enter the symbols in the Dias,just that they are only the correct ones. Entering the wrong symbol will have you reset the selected ones. After correctly entering the three symbols, the door to the shrine will open, where you can find one of thestatue heads for the lake’s puzzle.
