The Music of Red Dead Redemption 2: Original Soundtrackis releasing on beautiful “translucent red” vinyl. You can pre-order now viaLakeshore Records, and the vinyl is expected to ship around September 20.
Please note that Rockstar has released thesoundtrackand thescoreofRDR2separately. This vinyl release is only for the soundtrack of the game, and Rockstar has not yet confirmed whether the score will be receiving similar treatment. Both the soundtrack and the score ofRDR2have already been released for digital music platforms. However, this is the first time that any of the music fromRDR2has been pressed on vinyl.
The music itself is lovely. The soundtrack features a lot of great songs by some pretty remarkable artists–D’Angelo, Willie Nelson, and Josh Homme are all featured on the record. The producer of the album, Daniel Lanois, has worked with Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, and Neil Young. Lanois lends his own voice to some particularly beautiful and heartbreaking songs on this soundtrack.
The gatefold jacket looks great. The black and red color scheme is cool and mean, and it complements the two red records it houses. It’ll make a great looking addition to your collection.
Lakeshore Records mostly deals in soundtracks from hit movies and TV shows. For example, they recently pressed the music from Season 3 of the Netflix seriesStranger Thingsonto “fireworks splatter” vinyl. This is one of their first records based on a video game soundtrack, but I’m still confident when I say that the record is in really good hands with Lakeshore. They do a great job with big releases like this.
