VOID Interactive has unveiled new details on an upcoming update for its tactical first-person shooter, Ready Or Not. The new update will include an “ambitious” new map known as “Streamer”, which will see players respond to a prank call from a streamer’s viewer.

The new map will be available for free as part of the game’s upcoming 1.0 update, which sadly still doesn’t have a firm release date. Ready Or Not is currently in its early access phase on Steam, but many are speculating that a full release may also be on the horizon with the release of the 1.0 update.

The official description for Ready Or Not’s new streamer maps reads, “The phone rings, a young man is on the other side; he informs that he’s planning to kill his mother, brother and take hostages as well. In no time, SWAT moves to the location. In the meantime, Milky Toes, also known as Michael Williams, is getting ready to begin his regular streaming session. However, he is unaware that one of his fans has just made a prank call to the police station. While Milky Toes yells at his mother to get out of the frame, the SWAT team arrives, only to be welcomed not by Michael, but his illegal Bitcoin farm.”

Despite the odd, yet rather realistic concept, Ready Or Not players seem to be pretty pumped for the upcoming map. “Definitely was NOT expecting a map like this. Great work VOID!!” one user responded in the YouTube comments, whilst another said, “Wow, this looks amazing.” Another user said that they “love that [Ready Or Not] explores controversial topics that other games don’t.”

Back in June of last year, Ready Or Not was briefly removed from Steam following the addition of a new map set inside a nightclub. Many believed the removal was due to the fact that it was released on the anniversary of the Pulse nightclub shooting, which saw 49 innocent victims killed in a horrific attack.

However, VOID Interactive later claimed that this was not the case, revealing that its removal was due to a trademark infringement. Ready Or Not’s Steam page was reinstated after its developers removed the subject materials from the map.

Given that streamers being swatted by viewers continues to be an ongoing and prevalent issue, it remains to be seen if some will find the addition of Ready Or Not’s newest map as another controversial decision.
