Pokemon Gohas announced the Twinkling Fantasy in-game event, allowing trainers to find rare Pokemon in the wild. Complete field research tasks to encounter Goomy, and earn plentiful rewards for successfully catching Pokemon.
The Twinkling Fantasy will also see the much-awaited Mega Salamence makes its Pokemon Go debut with the opportunity to encounter a shiny one next week.
Pokemon Go’s Twinkling Fantasy event will take place between Tuesday, July 08, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. and Monday, August 03, 2025, at 10:00 p.m. local time. Players can expect to encounter plenty of Dragon - and Fairy- type Pokemon in the wild to empower their Pokedex while collecting rewards for their throws. Perhaps most excitingly, Mega Salamence will appear in Pokemon Go for the first time, with lucky players having a chance to encounter a shiny one.
Other Pokemon that will appear more frequently in the wild include Clefairy, Clefable, Jigglypuff, Dratini, Togetic, Marill, Ralts, Vibrava, Bagon, Deino, and Dedenne. Additionally, players will be able to encounter Shiny Dedenne for the first time in Pokemon Go if they are lucky enough.

Apart from wild encounters, players might have a surprise encounter with a Dragon or Fairy-type Pokemon when they take a snapshot to say cheese during the Twinkling Fantasy event. Furthermore, an event-themed collection challenge will be available for trainers, in which they can complete tasks to receive 50 Salamence Mega Energy, a Charged TM, and a Fast TM.
Field research task encounters will also be included in the event, allowing players to find a Shiny Goomy in the wild. Players will also have an increased chance of encountering rare Pokemon in raids. Jigglypuff, Marill, Axew, and Deino will appear in one-star raids, while Mawile, Drudgion, and Dedenne can be found in three-star raids. Zekrom, who will appear between Tuesday, January 10, at 10:00 a.m. and Wednesday, January 18, at 10:00 a.m. with its Fusion Bolt featured attack, will lurk around in five-star raids.
Pokemon Go also revealed that the Community Day Classic will return on January 21, featuring the Rock Skin Pokemon Larvitar for only three hours. It will be available between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. local time.
