One either dies a hero or lives long enough to become a villain. PlayStation was having another extraordinary year with various titles, only for one decision to blow back in its face. Arrowhead’sHelldivers 2became the crown jewel for Sony. Still, ever since the company announced that players need to create a PSN account to continue playing, many community members weren’t okay with what they were being forced to do.

A reason for that is that PSN isn’t available in every country, worrying fans about how they’d be able to play the title, but it seems like things aren’t as bad as they may have seemed.
PlayStation Assures Players That Creating Different Region Accounts Is Fine
There’s been all sorts of confusion regarding PlayStation’s conditions that’ve got to be met for players to continue playing Arrowhead’s title, but a complaint that some members of the community had has been addressed by the platform’s support. A player reached out to Sony’s support to ask if it’d be fine for them to create an account in other regions, hoping to confirm if it’d breach the Terms of Service.

To the gamer’s relief, it was confirmed that creating different region accounts is fine and “would not create any issues,” so players in countries where PSN isn’t available can rest easy knowing that theirHelldivers 2journey can go on.
Helldivers 2 Controversy Could Spell Seriously Hot Water for Sony PlayStation as Fan Gets Class Action Lawsuit Started – This is Unprecedented
This means that, for example, if one lives in a country that PSN doesn’t support, then creating a US region account would be an acceptable route to play games that require players to be logged in. The region only matters when it comes to physical editions or vouchers, soHelldiversfans can rejoice knowing that there’s a way to get around the PSN problem.
Amid the Helldivers 2 Controversy, Sony Seems to Be Contradicting Its Own Terms of Service
After Sony’s announcement, Steam reportedly startedgiving refunds toHelldivers 2players, so to retain its player base, PlayStation is seemingly breaking its own Terms of Service just like Valve’s platform did.
PlayStation Abandon Helldivers 2 in Certain Countries, Leaving Divers Stranded and Arrowhead Taking the Blame
Under the Account Creation, Usage and Securitysectionof the PSN Terms of Service, it states that all of the information provided by a user while creating an account “must be accurate and complete,” continuing that a breach could result in suspension, termination, or restriction.
So creating an account from a different region would technically be classified as false information, making the support’s response peculiar. AsPilestedt and Arrowhead continue to faceblame from the community, it remains to be seen how much further Sony’s decision would affect theHelldiverssequel in the future.

Until then, at least there is somewhat of a workaround regarding the PSN availability issue. Has your opinion of theHelldiverssequel changed amid the PSN controversy? Let us know in the comments!

Building his collection of PlayStation consoles throughout the years all the way up until PS5, he prefers single-player experiences like The Last of Us and Persona, while also letting off steam on a daily basis with casual EA Sports FC matches. But the current rise in online multiplayer shooters will never really appeal to his old-school self.
