Cursed Possessions offer incredible ways to spice up your hunts inPhasmophobia. You can quickly gain essential intel and knock out optional objectives in record-breaking time.
You can also trigger Cursed Hunts and immediately perish if you’re unprepared. If you want to get a head start in one of thebest Supernatural Horror gamesaround, here’s every Cursed Item ranked and how to use them.

7Voodoo Doll
A Prickly Problem Solver
Key Information
Forces the ghost to perform an action with a 1/10 chance of immediately starting a Hunt. You lose 5% Sanity per use.
Voice Activated?
The Voodoo Doll isn’t useless butrequires some base knowledgeto get the most out of it.
Whenever you use the Voodoo Doll, you stab it with a pin, causing the ghost to react. The pin location is random, with a 1/10 chance of hitting the heart. If this happens, a hunt immediately begins.

Ghost reactions can be pretty valuable, but you ideally need to know where the Ghost Room is to get any value from the Doll. Unfortunately, some tells, like D.O.T.S, cannot be forced, making some evidence a little confusing.
The Sanity cost is low, which is nice, but there are better Cursed Items. As a side note, the Voodoo Doll is just a bit boringand nowhere near as interactive as some other toys.

6Music Box
My Taste In Music Isn’t That Bad!
If a Ghost is within 20 meters of a live Music Box, it will sing along, revealing its location. If a Ghost is within 5 meters, it will walk toward the box. You lose 2.5% Sanity per second while the box is in use.
The Music Box is a decent Cursed Item, but it’s a little risky if you don’t know what you’re doing.

The ideal scenario is to turn on the Music Box, hear the Ghost, andpinpoint its location. However, the Ghost will walk directly toward you if you activate the box within 5 meters of it.
The funny part is, if you throw the Music Box while it’s playing, you will immediately trigger a Cursed Hunt, which lasts far longer than usual.

With this penalty in mind, it’sworth having another player with Incense sticksready, so your music doesn’t end with a one-way trip to the afterlife.
Even with the risks, the Music Box is still a great item, and the low Stamina drain is a non-issue on smaller maps.
5Summoning Circle
Are You Sure You Want To Do This?
When every candle around the Summoning Circle is lit, Summons and Traps the Ghost for five seconds. A Cursed Hunt is triggered immediately after.
The Summoning Circle is a fantastic Cursed Item for securing thosepesky secondary objectives, like “photograph the Ghost.“Light the candles around the circle with a firelighter, and the Ghost will be trapped before you.
While the threat of a Cursed Hunt is cause for concern, you canget a lot of information from a trapped Ghost. For example, Shade’s look different from every other entity.
you’re able to also sprinkle salt around the circle. If there’s no footprint in the salt, you’re dealing with a Wraith.
As the Summoning Circle doesn’t help identify the Ghost Room, it’s best to play around with it after you’ve done some groundwork. Pro-tip: you can stop the Cursed Hunt by placing a Tier 3 Crucifix nearby, although you don’t unlock it until much later.
4Monkey Paw
No Wish Is Without Consequence
Make a wish either via voice command or controller prompt. There is a wide range of effects with varying penalties.
Yes. Questions can also be asked with controller prompts.
The Monkey Paw is a high-risk, high-reward Cursed Possession that’s so powerful that it can resurrect a fallen player. Much like the Spirit Box, the Monkey Paw responds to specific questions you can ask with controller prompts.
You can also ask phonetically, andyou don’t need to hold the Paw yourselfto do it. This mechanic is great if you want to troll your friends!
The only issue with the Monkey Paw is that every request has a downside, and some are so debilitating that they stay with you until you leave the location. Even the resurrection request “I wish for life” has a 50% chance of killing the user.
Still, the Paw is fun and can come in clutchin the right situation.
3Cursed Mirror
See What They See
Peer into the Cursed Mirror to see a sweeping view of the Ghost Room. Dramatically drains Sanity with at least 20% spent per use.
The Cursed Mirror is a powerful item that canimmediately reveal the Ghost Room. When you look into the mirror, you will see inside the Ghost Room as the camera slowly spins. The downside is you lose a ton of Sanity.
Youlose 7.5% Sanity per second or 20% per use, whichever is higher. The Cursed Mirror is also effectively useless on large maps if you don’t know the layout.
While the Sanity drain is an issue, the Cursed Mirror offers immediate precious intel. One neat feature of the Mirror is that your friends can watch while you use it. If you can’t figure out the room, perhaps they can.
This item is also particularlyfun if you’re streamingas someone in your chat is bound to know exactly where the Ghost Room is.
2Ouija Board
It’s Just Like The Movies
Ask the Ghost a question, and it may respond. You must say “Goodbye” after use, or a Cursed Hunt will trigger.
Yes. Limited questions can be asked via controller.
The Ouija Board is a staple of any good ghost movie and works similarly inPhasmophobia. You canask the Ghost questionswith your voice or controller prompts.
It’s worth noting that you can ask the Ouija Board many questions, andthey aren’t all available unless you’re talking. Each accepted question drains a specific amount of Sanity based on its usefulness.
For example, you can directly ask where the Ghost is in exchange for 50% Sanity. You could also go with a vague “Are you close?” for a less helpful answer, but only a 20% Sanity loss.
Regardless of how you use the Board, all players in proximity must say “Goodbye"at the end, or else a Cursed Hunt begins!
1Tarot Cards
How’s Your Poker Face?
Draw a tarot card, and an effect will occur based on what you pull.
The Tarot Cards take the top spot because they areeverything I want in a Cursed Item. There’s a great risk/reward ratio, and more than anything, they are so much fun!
Tarot Cards can do just about anything, from trapping the Ghost to restoring precious Sanity. you’re able to increase Ghost activity with The Tower for easy identification and revive players with The High Priestess.
It’s not all sunshine and rainbows. If you draw The Hanged Man, you instantly die, but unlike the Monkey Paw, which has a 50% death rate, it’s only 1% with the Tarot Cards.
These powerful effects arebalanced by a game of chance. You never know what you will draw, and there’s no way to tilt the odds in your favor.
Cursed Possessions are meant to be optional ways tospice up your hunts, and I think the Tarot Cards fit that bill better than any other.
While Phasmophobia is a terrifying game, it’s evensuitable for newcomerswith the right group and swatting up on these items is a great way to get acclimated.
