The bloodletting of 2025 continues, as People Can Fly, the studio most known for its work on Bulletstorm,Outriders, andGears of War, is canceling projects and laying off employees.
The news comes from the studio, with an announcement over the weekend.

EA Cancels Upcoming Marvel Game, Closes Studio Behind It
EA has closed yet another studio and laid off more developers.
People Can Fly Has Two Projects Grounded
Over on X (formerly Twitter), the officialPeople Can Fly accountposted a message from CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski.
“Today we made a very difficult decision to suspend the development of project Gemini and project Bifrost – the relevant current reports have been released to the market,” Wojciechowski said.

The announcement confirms two projects have been shelved, called Project Gemini and Project Bifrost.
“The suspension of the Gemini project is a consequence of the fact that the Publisher has not presented us with a draft of the subsequent content rider to the Publishing Agreement covering the terms and conditions of further milestones on project Gemini and the lack of communication from the Publisher as to its willingness to continue or terminate the Gemini project.

Project Bifrost was suspended due to the above and the analysis of the Group’s cash flow, which showed a lack of prospects for securing organizational resources and funds necessary to continue the production and release of this project.”
Project Gemini is a game being worked on for Square Enix, which I’m presuimg is Outriders 2. Project Bifrost is a VR game. Neither title has had an official reveal or release date attached to it.

Project Dagger no longer has a publisher
Wojciechowski also confirmed that due to the project cancellations, the studio needed to “scale down our teams.” If there’s one thing we’ve had enough of this year, it’s layoffs. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon.

In December of last year, the studio conducted layoffs, resulting in over 100 people losing their jobs as part of a restructuring effort. People Can Fly was founded in 2002, and its first major hit was the first-person shooter Painkiller, released in 2004. Since then, worked with Epic Games on Bulletstorm and Gears of War: Judgment. It then developed Outriders for Square Enix, which was released in 2021.
To date, aside from the studio’s mysterious incubation projects, the studio is working on Gears of War: E-Day with The Coalition, which has no release date set, but it’s headed to Xbox Series X|S and PC.
We here at DualShockers wish everyone affected all the best, and hope they land on their feet soon.
