Developer Grinding Gear has revealed all the new content coming toPath of Exilewith the Crucible expansion on April 7th, including weapon-specific skill trees, new nodes for instant travel across the Atlas Passive Tree, the Crucible challenge league, plus new Vaal skills and items.
The Crucible expansion is about the ancient titans that once shaped the whole surface of Wraeclast. Players can forge their powers onto their weapons with an ability that will be unlocked after a time. They will come across new forges in Wraeclast to channel the power of these ancient titans to spawn a challenging encounter. The longer they channel, the more monsters spawn to form a stronger one. Players can also control the difficulty and rewards of these forge encounters.

The community appears to have its voice heard, as the Crucible DLC brings major changes to skill trees to improve the player experience. For instance, players can imbue their weapons with passive skill trees of their own. They will gain experience to uncover the skill tree on their weapon and progress through its skills by completing the forge encounters mentioned above.
Once players reach the endgame that takes place in the Forge of the Titans, they will learn the ability to melt their weapon down to merge its Crucible Passive Tree with that of another weapon. That process allows players to create a powerful skill tree on their weapons. Speaking of skill trees, the expansion also introduces Atlas Gateways, which let players travel across skill trees. With three pairs of gateways, they can fast-travel from the left side of the skill trees to vice versa, making it possible to engage with all the content with ease.
Regular beachstones will be much higher level, as they will also replace charged, pure, and enriched breachstones entirely. Players can earn flawless breachstones from an Atlas Tree Passive. Half of the masteries will be revamped on the passive tree with new stats, providing new ways to build characters. In addition, new clusters for Link Skills, Stun Mitigation, and Marks will bolster the skill tree.
The Saboteur and Pathfinder Ascendancy classes will be overhauled, and the nine new Vaal skills will enhance players' build to reach the endgame. Lastly, the upcoming DLC brings changes to the Ruthless mode that puts players behind the item power curve. Players can now earn Eternal Orbs, an in-game currency that can be used to imprint and restore items. “Ruthless now has its own set of challenges to complete. Like the ones in early Path of Exile, there are a total of eight, and they’re very difficult.” Grinding Gear said in the officialblog post.
For those who have been waiting for Path of Exile 2 and Path of Exile Mobile, the developer team will be revealing new information about the two games on July 28.
