Where To Catch Shadowbeak
You willdiscover that the cold is dangerousearly on in the game thanks to the day-night cycles. However, theheat is just as dangerous. If you want to catch Shadowbeak, you will need to knowhow to survive in very hot climates. This is not because Shadowbeak resides in one of these sweltering hot climate areas, but because you willneed to cross the desert areaon the northeast side of the map. Just beyond this area will beNo. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary— and this is where you canget your hands on Shadowbeak.
The Wildlife Sanctuary areas also have someBeautiful Flowersscattered about them, so be sure to pick any of these up if you happen upon them.
Shadowbeak is a really game Pal, so you will need tobring your best Dragon Palif you plan on catching one in battle. While Orserk andAstegonare really solid choices,the best Pal for the job isJetragon. The Dragon element typing is thego-to element matchupwhen it comes totaking down a Dark Pal like Shadowbeak. Getting to a high enough level can be an arduous task, so having afast method of gaining levelscan be very helpful.

Get Shadowbeak Through Breeding
It is a lot easier to get your hands on a Shadowbeakthroughthe game’s breeding mechanics. Shadowbeak can be bred using two other Shadowbeaks, but if you don’t have any of this Pal, you are going to needanAstegonand aKitsun. Kitsun is a rare pal that you canget near the Free Pal AllianceFast Travel Location, while Astegon is a late game Pal that you cancatch in the volcanic areato the southwest of the game’s map — both of which can bebred much sooner than when they can be caught.
You will discover many Dark eggs throughout your playthrough of the game — and they will come in varying sizes. Sadly, not even the hugest of Dark eggs will contain a Shadowbeak — so do not get your hopes up.
Using Shadowbeak In Breeding
Once you have obtained a Shadowbeak, you’re able to use it to getplenty of amazing Pals you might not yet have. These can be Pals that you can use tospeed up production at your base, or create the ultimate party of heavy hitters.
What Makes Shadowbeak Special?
Shadowbeak is a desirableaddition to your party, but not so much your base. This Pal has a measly Gathering Lv 1 Work Suitability, making it something you willnot want to be deployed at your baseas you will have access to plenty of Lv 4 Work Suitability Pals at this point. However, you cangive this Pal a Saddleand make it your new dedicated flying mount.
One of the biggest pros to this Pal comes in the form ofDivine Disaster, the singlebest Dark attack in the game, which is one of the reasons it makessuch a fearsome foe in its Boss Tower.Its Partner Skill isModified DNA, which willincrease all Dark damagefor both Shadowbeak and the Player.
Being a Dark element means you may build your party around synergizing damage. While you have a Hoocrate in your party, the Dark element damage of your Partner Pal will be increased. If you craft a Necklace for your Daedreams, you can have 3 of them deployed while Shadowbeak is your Partner Pal. This can make you a Neutral Pal’s utter nightmare of an opponent by bombarding them with Dark-type damage.
Best Field Alpha Pals To Fight
Shadowbeak is a Dark-type Pal, and a powerful one at that. This is the perfect Pal to use against any tough Neutral-type Field Alpha Pals you come across. Some Neutral-type Field Alpha Pals include Grintale at level 17, Nitewing at level 18, Kingpaca at level 23, and Fengalope at level 25. However, none of these will be much of a challenge by the time you have a Shadowbeak under your command. There are only 2 Field Alpha Pals that truly stand out above all Neutral-types.
Island to the west of the No. 1 Wildlife Sanctuary.
You may feel the need to dismount and use the pillars for safety, but this is not a good idea. Instead, what you should do is stay mounted on your Shadowbeak for the bonus damage you will gain from all your attacks dealing dark damage. Using a weapon such as a Pump-Action Shotgun or Assault Rifle will make short work of Lunaris.
At the northernmost part of the desert island, located on the northeast side of the map.
Paladius is accompanied by Necromus — its dark counterpart. If you want to capture both, you will need a Dark and a Dragon Pal. Start with your Shadowbeak and focus on whittling down Paladius’s health to either kill or capture it. Then once Paladius is dealt with, switch to a Dragon. The reason you will want to start with your Dark is because Paladius knows a devastating ice attack that can even take down a Jetragon.
