Support heroes inOverwatch 2have always been the backbone of any team comp, but aside from their general utility, the most important responsibility is their healer capabilities.
As of thelatest November 25th Patch Notes, the game has 11 Support heroes. This is not a huge variety given the roster of heroes compared to the DPS category, but it’s an adequate number nonetheless.

Overwatch 2: 10 Best Characters, Ranked
There are a lot of heroes to choose from in Overwatch 2, but which ones are the best? Here are the strongest choices.
Each of these heroes is unique in their kit and usage, but almost allrequire a different skill gapto play them efficiently, especially if you’re using them in theRanked/Competitive mode.

As someone who primarily engages in the Support role and has been in mid-high Gold over the past few seasons, here are my rankings for eachSupport heroas a healer and their notable features that help them stand out in the game’s current meta.
Hippity Hoppity, Get Off My Property
Sonic Amplifier
Crossfade, Amp It Up, Soundwave
Sound Barrier
Unique Passive
Starting with the bottom of the list, it’s hard for me to even say this as someone who has over 100+ hours onLucio, but if I was going to be brutally honest, Lucio is bottom of the barrel.
Lucio is one of themost fun heroes to play, from using his wall ride in unexpected ways to annoyWidowmakersto making plays using his Soundwave to push players to their deaths.

However,Lucio’s healing capabilities are averageunless your secondary healer can pull their weight. Sure, his speed boost can be great for dive comps, and his weapon deals good damage, but that radius ring is the major downside.
No burst healing means he can’t pull DPS and Tanks out of tight situations, and in longer-distance maps with no additional close-quarters, it’s honestly best to use any other healer to benefit your team.

10Brigitte
None Can Escape The Flail’s Inspiration
Rocket Flail
Repair Pack, Whip Shot, Barrier Shield, Shield Bash
Brigittehas all the tools to be aproper utility hero;her repair packs give bonus heals, and her shield grants her survivability to be on the frontline with Tanks.
However, again, with the current meta and how it is(especially if you consider the possibility of 6v6 later this year), her main problem is similar to Lucio’s.

Brigitte’s Inspire passive allows her to grant heals to teammates using Flail hits, and with constant uptime, you can easily be on par with healing with other top-tier supports on this list.
The problem is that maintaining Inspire can be tricky unless you have an aggressive playstyle. You’ll also need correct positioning so your healing radius gets to nearby allies.
One With The Tranquility
Orb of Destruction
Orb of Discord, Orb of Harmony
Transcendence
As a healer,Zenyattais useful if you want to pocket-heal your DPS via the Harmony Orb and help them get the upper hand on the opposition with your Discord Orb.
Moreover, his Orbs doenough damage to 2-tap squishy heroeslikeTracer. Still, while that’s satisfying, his lack of mobility, low health, and easy-to-kill hitbox do not do him favors whatsoever.
If any tank or DPS dives on you, there’s not much you can do to survive besides using your melee kick to knock them back and hope your Orbs fend them off.
He’s a better option when you need to provide extra offensive support to your team. You can press the opposition with charged Orbs from corners or just hammer them away while they’re Discorded.
Not to mentionZen’s Ultimate, being a get-out-of-jail-free cardduring tight situations, can often turn the tides of the match. But again, providing mass healing over an immediate vicinity? It’s not his strongest feature.
The Power Of The Sun
Solar Rifle
Outburst, Healing Pylon
Captive Sun
While her Solar Rifle is fairly balanced enough to provide good offense and healing, the main thing that makesIllaria complicated hero to master is her Healing Pylon.
Correctly positioning and pairing it with your Solar Rifle is the only way to get consistent heals; otherwise, you’ll have to rely on recharging your rifle’s heals every single time to heal someone.
Overwatch 2: 10 Tips And Tricks For Beginners
Overwatch 2 can have a steep learning curve for new players. Following these tips can help you succeed on the battlefield.
Besides that, Outburst is great for repositioning yourself out of harm’s way, and you may easily play at a medium distance to cover heals. But for open-ended maps, you’ll need to master your Pylon placement strategy.
Captive Sun is one of the better support Ults for helping your team get picks, but it can be countered in more than one way viaDva’s Matrixor even the cleansing effect from Kiriko’s Suzu.
7Lifeweaver
Nature Heals All Wounds
Healing Blossom, Thorn Valley
Petal Platform, Rejuvenating Dash, Life Grip
Tree of Life
While I haven’t had much experience withLifeweaver, from the times I did and how a friend of mine uses him, he’s one of the few versatile supports who can provide a good amount of healing.
His recent changes from the June 17, 2025 patch buffed his Lifegrip healing from 50 to 75, making it even more viable when pulling your DPS or Tank out of a pressured scenario.
While some may argue that Healing Blossom’s output is average, it gets somewhat compensated by the Petal Platform and the Tree of Life Ultimate.
I say ‘somewhat’ because Petal Platform needs to be strategically used, and though Tree of Life can be a lifesaver, it can be shut down quickly with high damage output.
Still, the only reason he’s up here is that, in Low Ranks, Lifeweaver can’t be chased down easily. And if you’ve got someone who knows his kit, he is a solid healer and can also save you from getting picked off.
The Sponge Or The Spray?
Caduceus Staff, Caduceus Blaster
Guardian Angel, Resurrect
Angelic Descent, Sympathetic Recovery
Mercyis still a great support character after all these seasons and, more so, one of the top healers in the game, despite some of her particular setbacks.
Her damage boost is still a valuable option when pocketing DPS characters, and Valkyrie can help your team gain an edge when pushing the objective or maintaining survivability.
you may also use the blaster, which has adequate firepower to help you back away when you are overwhelmed or flanked.
She’s a top choice across most Low Ranks, but the only catch is that you must master her Angelic Descent movement to stay out of the enemy’s line of sight, or else you’ll just be giving yourself a free ticket back to spawn.
Furthermore, you won’t have any help in the air if the enemy opposition is packing Hitscans like Cassidy or Soldier: 76. attempt to rely on your teammates when possible and pray they help you fight back if you get targeted on the flank.
Biotic Grasp
Biotic Orb, Fade
Coalescence
Moving into the top 5,Moirais a character that can be a strong option in many team comps, especially on the Control Mode maps, due to how you can get her Biotic Orbs to ping-pong around the point.
Her healing can be spread across characters at a moment’s notice, and most of all, with the slight damage buff Coalescence got a while ago, it’s a strong ultimate that can benefit yourself and your team.
Overwatch 2 - Official Hazard Gameplay Trailer
Overwatch 2’s new tank hero, Hazard, will be playable for a limited time this weekend.
The only real issue is that she’s not a ranged healer by any means unless she sends out a Biotic Orb, so you’ll always need to be alongside your teammates if you want to heal them quickly.
While Fade can be a great maneuverability tool to reach higher spaces or evade unmatched confrontations, it’s quite honestly the only thing to help her survive unless you throw yourself a healing orb in a room.
One Giant Leap For Martians
Mediblaster
Pulsar Torpedoes, Glide Boost, Hyper Ring
Orbital Ray
Martian Overboots
Ever since her launch,Junohas become one of my favorite heroes in Overwatch 2. I know she’s been heavily nerfed since her first release, but she’s still a solid healer despite those adjustments.
The reason why she’s so high on this list is that you’re able to safely play her from a distance, using Hyper Ring to speed boost your team under various circumstances and get her healing off via her gun and the Torpedoes.
Her Mediblaster can cover heals at mid-to-long ranges easily, along with the Pulsar Torpedoes being able to heal multiple teammates at a given time just so as long as they don’t get bombarded with damage.
Lastly, her Orbital Ray is one of the best Ultimates right now, even though it got nerfed a bit with the recent patches. If you use it to set up a push for your team, they can annihilate the opposition to win back engagements.
A Sleep Dart From Grandma
Biotic Rifle
Sleep Dart, Biotic Grenade
Nano Boost
Anaonly recently received a buff to both her Biotic Rifle’s healing and damage, making her even better than she already was in the game. Her entire playstyle is based on long-range, and if you want to master her, you have to start with her two main abilities.
Sleep Dart is a game-changing ability that can neutralize heroes like Genji or Cassidy during their ultimate or cut off any diving Tank’s offense in half. You may need to practice a bit with how the Sleep Dart works, but once you do, it’s a miracle tool.
Biotic Grenade is yet another ability that can tip the scales in your favor during engagements by disabling the enemy team’s healing and allowing your front liners to sweep up anyone in their wake. Just try to get both the enemy and your team in the grenade splash to get those heals, too.
And I don’t think I need to explain how ridiculously good Nano Boost is. Just so long as your teammate that uses it fully benefits from it and doesn’t waste it, it’s one of the best ultimates for winning a fight.
A Mix Of Grenades And Immortality
Biotic Launcher
Regenerative Burst, Immortality Field
Amplification Matrix
There’s a reason whyBaptisteis one of the strongest supports in the game, and there are more reasons than just because of his Grenade Launcher’s healing or his strong three-burst secondary fire.
His Immortality Field can ensure teammates' survival during tough engagements, and Regen Burst is a valuable tool for giving wounded heroes on the team breathing room.
The only real downside is how easy it is to break Immortality Field if placed sparingly on the area, so you’ll need to master its usage if you want the most value out of Baptiste.
Finally, with Amp Matrix, not only will your allies gain doubled damage, but you’ll also be able to increase Baptiste’s healing capabilities further, something desperately required in the current meta.
