With last year’sSpider-Man: Across The Spider-Versegetting an Oscar nomination, fans of the franchise found an amazing Easter Egg in its predecessorSpider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The Oscar-winning animated film had plenty of Easter Eggs which gave more clues about the alternate universes that each of the Spider-people came from.

Kingpin Matt Murdock

A fan recently discovered an Easter Egg in the original film which shows a glimpse of Matt Murdock a.k.a Daredevil. In a blink-and-miss scene, Wilson Fisk a.k.a Kingpin sees various versions of his wife Vanessa, and son Richard. One of the alternatives for his son is shown to be a young Matt Murdock, with his red glasses and stick. Many believe that this refers to Earth-65, the universe of Spider-Gwen, where Murdock becomes the Kingpin.

Wilson Fisk a.k.a Kingpin acted as the primary antagonist of the 2018 filmSpider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. However, as much as he is connected to Spider-Man, he is more an arch-nemesis to Matt Murdock a.k.a Daredevil. Fisk was the main antagonist in the Netflix/Marvel seriesDaredeviland has returned to the MCU in multiple series.

InSpider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, Fisk builds a collider to find his wife and son in alternate universes but due to some meddling by Miles Morales, other Spider-people from the multiverse end up in his dimension. The rest of the film follows the Spider-gang trying to get back to their universes while Fisk attempts to build the collider again.

Will The Daredevil Kingpin Storyline Be Explored In The MCU?

The alternative version of Matt Murdock being the Kingpin is one of the most interesting scenarios in the Marvel universe. While the Easter Egg inSpider-Man: Into The Spider-Versewas first expected to be expanded in the sequel, the main antagonist ofAcross the Spider-Verseturned out to be the Spot and there were no mentions of Kingpin’s existence in Spider-Gwen’s universe.

However, this storyline can be further explored in the MCU. The Disney Plus seriesWhat If…?is one of the perfect avenues for the storyline to be explored. Since Daredevil will return to the MCU inDaredevil: Born Again, it could be the perfect time for an episode in a potential third season of the series.

Marvel is also hoping to make a Spider-Gwen film as well as a live-actionSpider-Versefilm, which could potentially explore the Murdock storyline. According toVariety, producers Amy Pascal and Avi Arad stated that a live-action Miles Morales was in the works as well as a Spider-Gwen film. Since the Earth-65 Kingpin has a long history with Spider-Gwen in the comics, the solo film could focus on this storyline.

The threequel to theSpider-VersefranchiseSpider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verseis yet to release. The second film focused a lot more on Gwen’s life as Spider-Woman and her relationships with her father and her version of Peter Parker. The third film might expand on her world and give more details regarding who is who in Earth-65 leading up to the solo film.
