Be it Messi vs. Ronaldo or PlayStation vs. Xbox, there has always been a point of debate on who or which is the best in its category. The same thing goes for Marvel and DC as well. Both cinematic universes have some of the greatest superheroes, villains, movies, and whatnot!

Avengersmight have leftJustice Leaguequite some distance behind it. But when it comes to solo movies, DC has always been way ahead. TheBatmantrilogy is a prime example.Jokertoo, which has got an Oscar as well. Now DC might have another chance with this popular antihero to surpass Marvel in another sector as well.

Marvel Games vs DC Games – A Long Standing Battle

Just like theAvengersvs.Justice League, in the world of video games as well, Marvel now has left DC behind. Previously, although it was DC who reigned the video gaming arena with theBatman: Arkhamseries, developed by Rocksteady Studios.

However, things are not the same anymore after the arrival ofSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League‘s utter failure, which almost ended all the hopes of the franchise.Batman: Arkham Shadowis about to be released in October, but only in Meta Quest 3. That means the game is going to be a VR title.

So, there’s no way the game is going to regain the glory of its franchise. Also, fans are going to miss the iconic melee combat, which redefined hand-to-hand combat in third-person perspective video games.

On the other hand, in the past, Marvel really struggled to compete with DC in surfacing world-class gaming titles. Yes, there were games likeIron Man 2,Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, andMarvel’s Midnight Suns, which rose to huge glory, but they were never on the same level as theBatman: Arkhamfranchise.

However, things changed on the arrival ofMarvel’s Spider-Manin 2018, which absolutely turned the table over DC’s head. The game took Marvel Games to new heights, which DC Games hasn’t yet been able to reach. To add to that, cameMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, which was regarded as one of the best games of 2023 and would have easily won the Game of the Year award if that wasn’t the Larian Studios giant.

DC Should Make a Joker Game to BeatMarvel’s Spider-Man

DC now has a huge opportunity to settle back and think in the Arkham universe. But not withBatmanor theSuicideSquad. The next game in that famous franchise should see the debut of none other than the Joker.

We have already seen how powerful a character can be when the late Heath Ledger gave one of the greatest performances as Joker inThe Dark Knight. Later on, Joaquin Phoenix redefined this anti-hero character in the 2019 film Joker and bagged the Academy Awards. NowJoker 2is knocking on the door. That’s why it’s high time for DC Games to guide this Joker hype to another sector of the franchise.

Batman Arkham Knight: How Would Things Have Played Out if Joker Was Still Alive?

I personally feel with the kind of depth and maturity this character has, a new Joker game in the Arkhamverse would surely bring back the past glory of Rocksteady’s lost dreams.

Also, DC should look into making the game a prequel to all Batman: Arkham games, so we would like to reconnect our memories with our beloved game and witness the rise and incarnation of this larger-than-life character, which will surely overpower the dominance ofMarvel’s Spider-Manin the gaming arena.
