The Egghead Arc slowly came to an end giving the opportunity to not only bring more into the picture but also uncover all that wasn’t earlier. Chapter 1124 of the manga was recently released and with all that was happening, one thing that became a thorn in the side of the fans was the mysterious figure.
At the end of the chapter, a mysterious figure showed up with no explanation of who or what it could be. While many speculate the shadow to be Shanks, that is far from the truth. In fact, it could be someone hinted at from a long while ago, someone who was originally part of Gol D. Roger’s crew.
Scopper Gaban Could be the Mysterious Figure
As proposed in theory by@writingpanini on X, the patterns that have helped Luffy get where he is now paving the way for the perfect person to be behind the shadows of One Piece chapter 1124. Scopper Gaban could be the person who would help Luffy in the most unexpected ways. So far, Gol D. Roger was the first to appear of his crew. As the Pirate King, he inspired Luffy’s dreams and pushed him into becoming a pirate.
Moreover, the Egghead Island Arc is somewhat of a parallel to the Sabaody arc. The protagonist has already been acquainted with the right hand of the Pirate King, it is only fair that Oda lets him in on the left hand as well. By the end of the Sabaody arc, Luffy escaped and was able to meet Silvers Rayleigh, who then trained him to become stronger.

In a similar pattern, it is likely for him to come across Gaban as well seeing how the Egghead arc is also coming to an end. While nothing has been confirmed,Eiichiro Odais known as the God of foreshadowing and were he to add some hints here and there about his arrival, it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise.
Luffy’s Path to Laugh Tale
Through patterns, the first to appear was Gold (Gol D. Roger), followed by Silver (Silvers Rayleigh). It is only fair that Copper follows suit with Scopper Gaban. His purpose could be one as a guide who helps Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates to Laugh Tale. Another theory suggested that he was also the mysterious person on the cover of the chapter.
Moreover, Elbaf is an island with many Viking themes. To incorporate them even more, Axes were used as weapons and tools by many. Gaban too was handy with them. No one will truly know who the mysterious figure really is until the upcoming chapters and Eiichiro Oda could completely surprise fans.

However, it is more than likely for Scopper Gaban to be the one waiting for the Straw Hat Pirates with open arms. Elbaf Island could be an entirely new journey closer to the One Piece and meeting Roger’s crew one by one is only a step towards Luffy’s ultimate goal.
