Jon Bernthal has played several complex characters with shades of grey in many films and TV projects. He is a versatile actor who has always shined in great supporting roles in films likeSnitch, Fury, andThe Accountant. However, his most popular role was in the Marvel showThe Punisherwhere he played the titular antihero.

The character is set to return in next year’sDaredevil: Born Again. It has been some years since he played the character and thus his body needed some training to get in shape as well as some weapons training for his character. At GalaxyCon Raleigh, which was held recently, Bernthal revealed that he trained with formerPunisherstar Thomas Jane for the show.

Jon Bernthal’sPunisherhas had an interesting journey as he started by debuting in season 2 of Netflix’sDaredevilseries. He then got his own solo series which ran for two successful seasons. The tone of the series differed from most MCU entries it was incredibly violent and gritty with its action sequences with Bernthal giving one of his best performances.

The character will make his triumphant return in the upcoming Daredevil series set in the MCU titledDaredevil: Born Again. Bernthal along with Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, and Wilson Bethel recently made an appearance at GalaxyCon Raleigh to talk about the upcoming Disney+ series.The Accountantstar made an interesting comment about his training process for the film.
Bernthal revealed at the event that he trained with Thomas Jane for the series. As fans know, Jane played Frank Castle in the 2004 film version ofThe Punisher.The two were seen engaged in firearms training for Bernthal’s new show last year (viaInstagram). Fans have seen the bloodied and roughed-up look of Bernthal from the leakset photos.

OnX, fans were surprised to know about the union of the two Punishers and expressed their excitement for Bernthal’s return. Some were sad that either of them did not make an appearance inDeadpool & Wolverine.

In an interview withCollider, Bernthal revealed that the reason why the character resonates with so many people is because there is a little of Frank Castle in everyone. The actor further stated that the character exists inside him andcaresabout him deeply. He said,
I think there’s a reason why that character has resonated as deeply and strongly as he has. In the hearts and minds of comic book fans and first responders people in the military and people all over the globe. I think there’s a little bit of Frank Castle in everybody. He exists very strongly inside me and I care about that character deeply.
Bernthal’s Punisher is set to team up with Daredevil in the upcoming MCU seriesDaredevil: Born Again. The show led by Charlie Cox will also star Vincent D’Onofrio, Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, and Wilson Bethel.
The series will premiere on Disney+ in March 2025.
