Sakamoto Dayshas garnered a widespread following that offers endless appreciation for the series. Just like fans, the series exceeded the creator’s expectations as well. Yuto Suzuki never knew their creation would turn into such a celebrated series. Initially, they released a one-shot titled ‘Sakamoto’. That was fans’ first introduction toSakamoto Days.
Since then, the manga has become fairly popular and an anime adaptation is on its way. The anime adaptation was highly anticipated by fans and is scheduled for January 2025. While the anime is yet to premiere, the manga, as some fans suspect, is drawing closer to its end.
Given the recent infamous shonen endings, fans are bound to be concerned about the potential ending of their favorite manga. However, it seems like there’s nothing to worry about as Suzuki shared that they had already planned the ending of their series before it even began.
Yuto Suzuki Was Always sure About the Ending ofSakamoto Days
Published for the first time in 2020, Yuto Suzuki’sSakamoto Daysranks among the most loved series in the Weekly Shonen Jump. With around 180 chapters at present, the current progression suggests that the manga will go on for at least two more years. Fans initially believed that the manga would end by 200 chapters but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.

On the completion of a hundred chapters of the manga, Suzuki shared some details about the potential ending of the series during an interview (via translations on X). Even when the series had just hit the hundred-chapters mark, they sounded fairly confident about the ending, as it was already planned-out. Hearing that the ending was planned out for a long time is a relief for the fans.
It’s safe to assume that if the ending was already planned during the initial stages of the manga, the subsequent developments were mindful of the ending. This could mean that most plot lines would tie together quite well at the end, or it could simply be a case of wishful thinking.
Whether things go according to the expectations or not,Sakamoto Daysshouldn’t become a part of the current trend of bad endings. While the manga ending is still quite far, the anime adaptation will soon make its way to the fans. And that’s definitely something to look forward to.
The Upcoming Anime Adaptation and It’s Hype
The anime adaptation ofSakamoto Dayswas announced earlier this year, which was something fans had been patiently waiting for. The anime is scheduled for a January 2025 release with TMS Entertainment Studio at the helm of the animation production. Fans are both hopeful and cautious about the anime’s quality. Along with a great cast of characters, the fight scenes in the manga takes the cake for being the highlight. If the anime gets the action right and fluid, it’s bound to spark a wave of joy among fans.

If these expectations and requirements are met can only be discovered when the anime premieres, all we can do is be hopeful in the meantime, but with discretion.
